AWARD-WINNING VOLUNTEER

It's a privilege to once again be rewarded with an award for volunteerism/selfless service. 

Last Friday, I was at American Corner, Ikeja to receive an award as a recipient of NIGERIAN VOLUNTEERS AWARD , also, to learn more and network with other Change Agents in the development space. 

This for me, is a testament to all the community service, volunteer engagement and work we do at Girl Child Development Hub. 

As an advocate of sustainable development goals 3, 4 and 5 (Good Health and Wellbeing, Quality Education and Gender Equality). I have volunteered with several organizations just to see to the advancement and actualisation of these goals. 

My first volunteering experience was when I gathered children in my community to teach them basic literacy and quantitative reasoning just after my high school graduation. It was a fulfilling experience and since then, I always looked forward to being a part of passionate individuals contributing positively to their society. 

The first volunteering community I joined as a student of the University of Ibadan is Volunteers Hub Africa. This single organization connected me to several other platforms that align with my volunteer goals. 

As a result of my passion and active volunteer service, I was awarded JCI (Junior Chamber International) UI Fifteen Outstanding Persons Award in the category of Selfless Contribution to a Worthy Cause. 

My joy is that volunteerism is not dying. No matter the advancement in age and status, I will always give myself to the good work of civic and community engagement. 

I look forward to more opportunities to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5 and 13.

I want to establish and create lasting relationship and Joy. I just want to look back at APRIL and be thankful for the ending works of God's Grace.

MSMES Survival Fund Training in Kwara State.
It has really been an intensive capacity building training so far.
Personally, i don't see myself as the business type but of course i love to provide solutions to problems/challenges. And that is one of the ways of generating business ideas.

However, the COVID lockdown coupled with the ongoing ASUU strike taught me being in business is not for some peculiar people. Almost everyone around me knows me with humanitarian works/volunteering. But you know 😂, we have to start sourcing for means of income too. I started freelance writing last month and i have also been thinking of a business idea in line with my course of study(Human Kinetics and Health Education). So this training came at the RIGHT time for me. Exposing me o the business world and how to go about it.

Volunteering has added a lot to me even as i keep giving a lot to it. Volunteering availed me the opportunity to keep adding value to others and making impact without price and permission.

A world where condition of living healthy is accessible by all.
A world where salvation reaches the end of it.
