Reading Fluently? Wow 😲
Moving a student from reading word by word to reading in phrases is difficult and, it's not a walk in the park.😔
It takes lots of practice and efforts. The good news is 😃 it's doable!🙂😍
The method I'm about to share is one which we've used to move lots of nonreaders to skilled readers in 6 months at our literacy center here.✅✅
So, how do we move students from reading word by word to reading fluently?
The answer lies in picking a decodable passage, a predictable text or poem and taking these four steps every day:
1. Let her read: by allowing her read, you will know what to work on. I mean, where she needs help.
2. Read to her: this step will afford her the opportunity to hear what good reading sounds like.
3. - Read WITH her: this step is essential in helping her imitate your fluency, expression, and pacing.
4. Let her read again: this step will help reinforce what she has learned by repeatedly reading the text.
The more you do this, the better her reading. In few weeks, she'll be reading fluently.
Which of the strategies do you practice? I'll be reading your comments 😍🤗
