Career Services Centre COAST Lafia, Nasarawa State

The College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Career Services Centre Lafia held its first orientation programme on the 14th of May, 2026, for new students since its establishment. The Deputy Rector Dr. Vincent Ebuga Aya gave an opening speech explaining the purpose of the Career Services Centre, its benefits to students, and the importance of guiding students in learning and character development.
The Director of the Centre Dr. Benjamin Ada spoke on how the Career Services Centre was created to help prepare students for future careers. In his remarks, he stated that the Centre would help reduce unemployment in the country by preparing students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed for the job market. The key aspects of the Centre are to provide career guidance, job-readiness training, internship opportunities, and entrepreneurship support, helping graduates become more employable and self-reliant.
He also stated that the vision of the Centre is to empower students, graduates, and alumni in building career paths towards meaningful and purposeful lives, while its mission is to offer students a full range of career opportunities, practical job ideas, and internship placements.
He further mentioned the role of the Centre in students’ development, which includes offering assessments and aptitude tests, organising workshops on soft and technical skills, and providing training in digital literacy and professional communication.
There was also an interactive session between the staff and students.
Finally, the Deputy Director of the Centre gave the vote of thanks and wished everyone a safe journey back to their various destinations.
