Is there any man or boy born with a cheque book? Why is it that it is automatically assumed that it has to be a man that foots the bill? It has become common to see and hear ladies talk about how a man's worth is dependent on how much he spends on them, it is almost as if the woman is seen as one who does not have the capacity to earn or spend.

I used to think it was more of a case of women who are not financially independent until I was made to understand that it is something worse with women who have their own m0ney but are still entitled. What is really heart breaking is seeing a family with two household income living on one alone because the woman believes that she must never allow herself to take on the role of a man, imagine short changing your family especially your children, denying them the opportunity to have better quality education or higher standard of living just because you believe or are told that you should not be contributing to your family finances.

Putting yourself at the receiving end is very likely going to turn you into one who ends up selling themselves short, no man is born with a cheque book just like no woman was born with pots and pans. The focus should be on strength based roles rather than these gender based roles. Life can be a whole lot better if we contribute as much as we can rather than be a dead weight be it in domestic chores or in footing the bills.
