ON WHAT BASIS SHOULD WE VOTE FOR TINUBU FOR A SECOND TERM?

As people of Northern Nigeria, a region comprising 19 of the 36 states of the federation, anyone who understands the principles of democratic development knows that a politician seeking the mandate of the people is expected to approach the electorate with a record of tangible achievements and verifiable accomplishments upon which he can reasonably base his case for another term in office.

So, what measurable progress can you point to that President Tinubu has delivered to Northern Nigeria, particularly in the face of the worsening insecurity across the region?

What can you tell us that will convince the families and communities who have lost thousands of lives across our states, including people who have been killed in their own homes?

What can you say to the women who have lost their husbands and children, while their communities have been devastated and they have been forced into displacement as a consequence of persistent attacks by armed bandits?

What can you tell the children who have been left orphaned as a result of killings and kidnappings across Northern Nigeria?

These are not merely political questions. They are questions of governance, accountability, democratic legitimacy, and the social contract between government and citizens.

Before asking the people of Northern Nigeria to renew a political mandate, the fundamental question remains: what concrete achievements can be presented to justify that renewal?

Public Concern Over the Whereabouts and Alleged Death of Shaikh Sani Khalifa

The attention of the public has been drawn to growing concerns surrounding the status and whereabouts of Shaikh Sani Khalifa, who was reportedly arrested on allegations of criminal conduct and subsequently arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction. It is noteworthy that the legal proceedings in respect of the said matter were ongoing and had not reached final determination at the material time.

Recent reports and allegations suggesting that Shaikh Sani Khalifa may have died while in custody have generated widespread public anxiety and demand for clarity.

In view of the foregoing, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Office of the Inspector General of Police are hereby respectfully urged, in the interest of transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law, to urgently provide clear and authoritative information on the following:

1• The current status of Shaikh Sani Khalifa — whether he is alive or deceased;

2• If deceased, the cause and circumstances surrounding his death;

3• The conditions under which he was held while in custody;

4• Whether all due legal and constitutional procedures were duly observed;

Any steps being taken to investigate the matter and ensure accountability, where necessary.

The right to life and the right to fair hearing remain fundamental constitutional guarantees, and any perceived violation of these rights must be addressed with utmost seriousness.

The Nigerian public, as critical stakeholders in the justice system, deserve timely, transparent, and factual communication on this matter to prevent misinformation and maintain public trust in state institutions.

THE ƊORAYI MASSACRE!

History will not be silent about this night of shame. It will return to it again and again, naming it for what it was: a dark and blood-soaked chapter, a massacre of an entire family, an unspeakable cruelty visited upon humanity in the Ɗorayi quarter of Kano.

In the sanctuary of their father’s home, little children were cut down. In the privacy of her husband’s house, a lawful wife was murdered. Even an infant still clinging to life at his mother’s breast was not spared. Without warning, without mercy, they were slaughtered in cold blood, their innocence offering no shield against brutality.

This atrocity shall be inscribed in the blackest pages of our collective memory. It will stand as a lasting indictment of the depth to which human cruelty can descend. And history will continue to pronounce its curse upon every hand that planned, enabled, or carried out this crime an act of terror against defenseless human beings, committed without right, without justice, and without conscience.
