KADUNA LEADS THE DIGITAL LEAP IN EDUCATION

Kaduna, the Centre of Learning, once again provided a platform for national conversation on the future of education as it hosted the 68th Annual National Congress of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS).

Speaking at the congress, the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Senior Secondary Schools Education Board (KADSSEB), Dr. Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim, mni, presented a paper titled:

“Digital Leap in Senior Secondary Education: Harnessing Technology for Quality Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Transformational School Leadership.”

In her presentation, Dr. Suwaiba highlighted the growing importance of technology in transforming teaching, learning, assessment and school management, while sharing lessons from Kaduna State’s experience.

She noted that Kaduna State is increasingly demonstrating that technology, innovation and strong educational leadership can work together to improve the delivery of secondary education, providing useful lessons for other states.

The presentation also reflected the commitment of the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, to strengthening education through reforms, technology, improved infrastructure, teacher development and better systems for managing schools and learning outcomes.

The congress also featured a presentation by the Director-General of the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, Prof. Usman Abubakar Zaria, titled:

“Digital Leap: From Technology-Driven Assessment to Intelligent Quality Assurance — Lessons, Practical Pathways and the Kaduna State Experience.”

Together, the presentations reinforced a simple message: the digital transformation of education is no longer a choice; it is a responsibility for every school leader committed to quality education.

Kaduna is not only the Centre of Learning. It is positioning itself to lead the digital leap.

GSS Nasarawa Rigachikun School Community Pays Courtesy Visit to KADSSEB, Presents Award to Executive Chairman

The Principal, SBMC, PTA and Traditional Ruler of GSS Nasarawa Rigachikun paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of KADSSEB, Dr. Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim, mni, during which they presented her with an Award of Appreciation in recognition of her leadership and contributions to the development of secondary education in Kaduna State.

The delegation was received at KADSSEB by the Executive Chairman, alongside the three Permanent Members of the Board and the Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman.

The delegation appreciated the Board’s efforts towards improving education, strengthening school administration and promoting teachers’ welfare and professional development.

Receiving the award, Dr. Suwaiba expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as an encouragement to remain committed to the Board’s mandate. She also commended the school community for its support and collaboration, stressing the importance of strong partnerships in advancing education.

The Executive Chairman acknowledged the continued support of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, Executive Governor of Kaduna State, whose administration has prioritised education and reforms aimed at improving teaching and learning across the State.

The visit reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between KADSSEB, schools and communities in advancing quality education across Kaduna State.

KADSSEB Commences 2026 Teachers' Promotion Interview Across Kaduna State

Tuesday, 4th August, 2026 – The Kaduna State Senior Secondary Schools Education Board (KADSSEB) has successfully commenced the 2026 Teachers' Promotion Interview for eligible teachers across the three senatorial zones of Kaduna State.

The exercise, which began today, is being conducted simultaneously at Barewa College, Zaria (Zone One); Sarduna Memorial College (SMC), Ungwan Gado, Kaduna (Zone Two); and Government Secondary School (GSS), Kafanchan (Zone Three). The interview is scheduled to run from Tuesday, 4th August to Thursday, 6th August, 2026, and is expected to cover 10,554 eligible teachers across the state.

The first day of the exercise was peaceful, orderly, and successful, with the interview process progressing smoothly at all three centres. Candidates expressed satisfaction with the transparent and professional manner in which the exercise is being conducted.

Promotion remains one of the most important incentives for motivating teachers, boosting their morale, and rewarding hard work, dedication, and excellence in service. It also strengthens professionalism and encourages greater commitment to the delivery of quality education in public schools.

Many of the teachers undergoing the interview expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, for according priority attention to the welfare and career progression of teachers. They noted that the administration's continued investment in the education sector and commitment to timely promotion of deserving teachers have renewed confidence and enhanced motivation among the teaching workforce.

The Kaduna State Senior Secondary Schools Education Board reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, fair, and merit-based promotion exercise, while ensuring that every eligible teacher is given an equal opportunity throughout the process.

KADSSEB Holds Final Management Briefing Ahead of 2025 Promotion Interview Exercise
Date: 3rd August 2026

The Kaduna State Senior Secondary School Education Board (KADSSEB) today held its final management briefing ahead of the commencement of the 2025 Promotion Interview Exercise, which begins on Tuesday, 4th August 2026, across the Board's three interview centres:

Zone I: Barewa College, Zaria.
Zone II: Sardauna Memorial College, Secondary Section, Unguwan Dosa, Kaduna.
Zone III: Government Senior Secondary School (GSS) Kafanchan Senior, Kafanchan.

The briefing was chaired by the Executive Chairman, Dr. Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim, mni, and attended by Board Members, the Board Secretary, Management, and staff of the Board.

As part of the meeting, the Department of Human Resources and Teachers Development presented a comprehensive briefing on the promotion interview exercise, highlighting the operational modalities, interview procedures, roles and responsibilities of officials, and other key guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful exercise across the three zones. The presentation was followed by an interactive session during which participants sought clarifications, asked questions, and received further guidance to ensure a common understanding of the assignment.

In her remarks, the Executive Chairman reminded all officials that they were ambassadors of KADSSEB and the Kaduna State Government. She urged them to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, fairness, integrity, courtesy, and strict adherence to the approved guidelines to ensure a transparent, credible, and merit-based promotion interview exercise. She emphasized the need to treat all candidates with dignity while upholding the highest standards of accountability throughout the exercise.

Dr. Suwaiba expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, CON, Executive Governor of Kaduna State, for his unwavering commitment to transforming the education sector and for creating the enabling environment that has made the promotion of nearly 11,000 teachers possible. She noted that many teachers had awaited promotion for several years, describing the exercise as yet another demonstration of the Governor's commitment to improving teachers' welfare, motivation, and career progression.

The Executive Chairman also commended the Board Members, Management, and staff for their unwavering support, dedication, teamwork, patience, and hard work in preparing for the exercise. She thanked everyone for their commitment to the Board's mandate and wished all officials a safe journey and a successful assignment.

Following the meeting, officials deployed to Zone I (Zaria) and Zone III (Kafanchan) departed for their respective centres ahead of the commencement of the promotion interviews.

KADSSEB Holds Strategic Interactive Meeting with Principals of Boarding Schools

The Kaduna State Senior Secondary School Education Board (KADSSEB) convened a strategic interactive meeting with Principals of all boarding secondary schools across Kaduna State as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the management and quality of boarding education.

The meeting was chaired by the Executive Chairman of KADSSEB, Dr. Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim, mni, and focused on strengthening school leadership, improving the welfare of students and staff, enhancing security, promoting academic excellence, and improving the overall management of boarding schools across Kaduna State.

Also in attendance were the Permanent Members of the Board, the Board Secretary, Directors of the Board, the Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman, and Principals of all boarding secondary schools across the state.

Unlike a routine briefing, the meeting provided an open platform for principals to freely share experiences, highlight operational challenges, and make practical recommendations on issues affecting their schools. The interactive engagement enabled the Board to gain firsthand insights into the realities on the ground while jointly exploring practical solutions to strengthen the management of boarding schools across the state.

Responding to the issues raised, the Executive Chairman assured the principals that the Board remains committed to addressing their concerns within its mandate. She explained that while some of the issues raised are already receiving attention, others are being considered and prioritized in line with government policy and available resources.

She further assured the principals that KADSSEB will continue to faithfully implement the policies and directives of the Kaduna State Government, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, to strengthen the administration of boarding schools and improve the quality of education across the state.

Dr. Suwaiba commended His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, for his unwavering commitment to the education sector, noting that the administration's sustained investments in school infrastructure, teacher welfare, and education reforms continue to provide the necessary support for KADSSEB to effectively deliver on its mandate.

The Executive Chairman charged the principals to demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities. She urged them to be proactive, innovative, and solution-driven leaders who inspire excellence, take initiative, and remain committed to improving learning outcomes in their respective schools.

She emphasized that the position of Principal is a privilege and a responsibility, not an entitlement. She noted that every principal remains a teacher and that leadership appointments must be earned and sustained through integrity, competence, dedication, innovation, and exemplary performance.

Dr. Suwaiba stated that, going forward, the appointment of principals will continue to be guided by merit, demonstrated capacity, integrity, and seniority. She further stressed that the Board will continue to assess the performance of school leaders objectively and that those who do not meet the expected standards of leadership, accountability, and professionalism may be reassigned, thereby creating opportunities for more deserving officers to serve.

She reaffirmed KADSSEB's commitment to building a corps of principled, competent, and visionary school leaders capable of driving the transformation of secondary education in Kaduna State.

The meeting reaffirmed KADSSEB's commitment to advancing quality secondary education in line with the education transformation agenda of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, through continuous engagement with school leaders, responsive decision-making, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.

KADSSEB First Quarter 2026 School Monitoring Highlights

As part of its commitment to strengthening quality education across Kaduna State, the Kaduna State Senior Secondary School Education Board (KADSSEB) conducted a series of on-the-spot monitoring visits to senior secondary schools across the three education zones during the first quarter of 2026.

These visits provided an opportunity to assess school operations, interact with principals, teachers and students, identify areas requiring attention, and encourage adherence to expected standards.
