📅 Day 10: 2025 | 301 HAG Cooperative Multi-purpose Society FREE STEM Bootcamp For Kids 🚀.
It's an amazing day at the 301 HAG CMS STEM Bootcamp, the creativity and skill of our young tech innovators shine even brighter. It's the first day of our Third week in; it's Day 10, and the Kaduna the Secondary Section embraced a challenge that brought sensors, motion, and real-world applications together. We had so much fun working on our project today; Building the Detecting Robot 🤖 built with the Mbot 10-in-1 Robotic Kit 🚀✨.
This project was designed to introduce students to the power of functional design, sensor integration and presentation skills. We engaged the kids in brain tasking discussions and idea exchange while also deepening their understanding of how sensors bring intelligence into robotics 🤖. The Detecting Robot was equipped with two DC encoder motors for smooth motion, a rechargeable battery set, and the Mega Pi board, which housed the Bluetooth module and served as a hub for the motor connections. As our robot gradually came into life, we could see the excitement in our young engineers faces 🛠️🚀.
🛠️ Here's a little detail about the Detecting Robot Challenge, our young innovators were tasked with;
👍 Building a robot that could respond to hand or object movements.
Programming the Line Follower Sensor to trace black or white paths accurately.
💻 Controlling and programming the robot using both the Mblock Mobile App and the Desktop App with code blocks.
The highlight for Day 10 at the Bootcamp came from the sensors. First the Ultrasonic Sensor; This sensor allowed the robot to interact with hand or leg movements allowing it to "follow the leader moving forward and when the palm was more than 10 cm away, and reversing when it was closer 👍🤖.
Next we added the Line Following Sensor;
This sensor enabled the robot to trace black or white lines. The robot performed line following movements by adjusting its path based on what it detected 🤖✨. With eager teamwork, our students connected wirelessly to their robots, coding and testing until their builds came alive. The classroom buzzed with excitement as robots responded to gestures and traced lines with precision 💡🌟.
Bringing the day to a close, we watched as each team successfully presented their Detecting Robot; showcasing not only technical skill but also creativity, persistence, and collaboration throughout the process. 📅 Day 6: 2025 | 301 HAG Cooperative Multi-purpose Society FREE STEM Bootcamp For Kids 🚀
It’s the 6th day of our exciting tech journey, and the momentum just keeps getting better! Today, our young innovators took on a project that was fun and engaging; Building the Automatic Door with Lego Spike.
This project was designed to introduce the basics of sensor integration and automation, and it truly brought out the creativity in our problem-solvers 💡✨. Using both an Ultrasonic Sensor and a Color Sensor, the students built a door that could open and close automatically, just like the ones we see in big malls and modern facilities.
Here's just a brief of their task today 📌;
💡 When an object or a person approaches the door, the Ultrasonic Sensor detects it and triggers two motors that rotate in opposite directions, smoothly opening the door and closing it again once the object left the set range.
💡 As an advanced feature, the Color Sensor acted like a passkey, where specific colors could signal the door to open or close. This made the build not just automatic, but also automated with multiple smart options for access 💯.
Haha! The challenge was clear!💡🛠️;
1. The students had to integrate the sensors to create a fully interactive and automated system🚀.
2. The students also had to engage in teamwork and collaboration to program the door to respond to both the distance sensor and the color sensor simultaneously 🚀.
Staring on our final spotlight of the day, our learners delivered! With teamwork, creativity, and just a little guidance by the coaches, every team successfully brought their Automatic Door to life 💯. Their demonstrations were impressive, and taking note of the excitement on their faces said it all. "These kids aren’t just building robots, they’re building the future 🌍✨ "

📅 Day 5: 2025 | 301 HAG Cooperative Multi-purpose Society FREE STEM Bootcamp For Kids 🚀
It’s the 5th day of our amazing tech journey. It was yet another day of problem-solving, creativity, and hands-on learning; proving that each build isn’t just a project, but a step towards raising our next African digital innovators.
Today, we had so much fun Building the Driving Base 3. This project was an exciting upgrade from our Day 1 project -the Driving Base 1. This project introduced the basics of sensor integration as the students worked with two main sensors; the Ultrasonic Sensor and a Color Sensor. The Color Sensor controlled the motion of the robot as different colours were displayed (forward on green, turning right on blue, and stopping on red). The Ultrasonic/Distance Sensor enabled the robot to detect and avoid obstacles. When an obstacle was detected at a particular distance away, the robot would stop, reverse, and then move in another direction allowing it to navigate around obstacles💡 ✨
The students skillfully set out on their tasks. In no time, and with little assistance with their codes on the Lego Spike App, our young learners had set the robot to move forward on green, turn right on blue, and stop on red. When an object came within range, the robot automatically stopped, reversed, and changed it's direction: just like a human driver🤖.
🛠️ The challenge was clear; as they were to combine both sensors, initiate automated responses with their programs, and present a robot that could think and act on its own. At the end of the day, each team delivered, with well-structured presentations and smooth, functional demonstrations. Today was just another amazing day of building potential for future innovators that would be capable of thriving in our fast growing world 🌍 🚀
