I am devastated by the news of the abduction and brutal killing of Mr. Michael Oyedokun, a mathematics teacher from Orire Oyo State. Over 40 students and staff were kidnapped from Community High School Ahoro-Esinele yet the nation remains largely silent.
Orire is just over an hour from Ibadan and a few hours from Lagos which is a places once considered safe. Yet now, no part of Nigeria feels secure.
Kidnappings, killings and attacks by bandits, armed herdsmen and terrorists have spread from the North to states like Benue, Kwara, Kogi and now Oyo.
It is heartbreaking to witness a country once peaceful turn into a place of fear and bloodshed while political leaders offer empty condolences and pursue self-interest. True governance would protect lives not allow them to be wasted daily.
To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: if you cannot ensure the safety of Nigerians, it is time to step aside and let someone capable lead.
May Mr. Michael Oyedokun rest in peace. And may God grant Nigeria healing and protection.
