To speak the truth:

Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (rahimahullah) said: "I abandoned trying to please people, so I was able to speak the truth."

[Ref: سير أعلام النبلاء: (١١/٣٤)]

﴾فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ﴿

Translation: So flee to Allaah.

Ibn ‘Abbas: This means flee to Allaah by repenting for your sins.

Muhammad b. ‘Abd-Allah b. ‘Amr b. ‘Uthmaan b. ‘Affaan: This means go to Makkah.

al-Husayn b. al-Fadl: This means flee from everything except Allaah. The one who flees to anything else will not escape His punishment.

Abū Bakr al-Warraaq: This means flee from obeying the Shaytaan to obeying the Most Merciful.

al-Junayd: The Shaytaan calls to falsehood, so flee to Allaah and He will protect you from him.

Dhu’l-Noon al-Masri: This means flee from ignorance to knowledge, and from disbelief to gratitude.

‘Amr b. ‘Uthmaan: This means flee from yourself to your Lord.
