PRESS STATEMENT

NORTHERN COMRADES MOVEMENT OF NIGERIA STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE ARREST OF PROF. USMAN YUSUF AND OMOYELE SOWORE DESCRIBING IT AS A DELIBERATE ACT TO UNDERMINE DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES

1. The Northern Comrades Movement of Nigeria (NCMN) strongly condemns the arrest and arraignment of Prof. Usman Yusuf, the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 AAC Presidential Aspirant. The arrest, which took place on January 29, 2025, is widely regarded as a politically motivated act, aimed at suppressing dissenting voices against the current administration. This move is a clear example of political persecution, where the government seeks to silence critics and intimidate opposition figures.

2. Prof. Usman Yusuf has been a vocal advocate for good governance, transparency, and accountability, often challenging the administration's policies. Similarly, Omoyele Sowore, a prominent journalist and human rights activist, has been a strong voice against injustice and oppression in the country. Although Sowore has been released on bail, the Northern Comrades Movement of Nigeria (NCMN) lambasts the government for its undemocratic actions, which are weakening democratic principles in the country.

3. The movement under the auspices of Mal. Jabir Ibrahim Yaro demands the immediate and unconditional release of Prof. Usman Yusuf, arguing that his detention is a deliberate attempt to undermine democratic principles in Nigeria. The groups have raised alarms about the implications of such actions for Nigeria's democracy, warning that suppressing dissent could lead to a regression into an era where opposition voices are criminalized. The Northern Comrades Movement of Nigeria aligns with these sentiments, advocating for a political environment where constructive criticism is welcomed and dissent is not met with intimidation.

4. We call on the Federal Government and other concerned stakeholders to intervene in this matter towards the immediate release of Prof. Usman Yusuf and to take the movement demands seriously and ensure the rights of citizens are protect and respected.

Comrade Ahmad Ashir
National Secretary, NCMN

The Issue of bigotry in Nigeria.

What most people don’t really understand is that, our founding fathers were not completely saints or innocents, they had their shortcomings and lived the best of their lives.

Despite their flaws, we must acknowledge, respect and accept the fact that they have played a vital role in the development of Nigeria.

However, it’s of paramount importance for this generation to forget whatsoever happened in the past and focus on our future, we can’t continue to live in the past.

It’s sad and unfortunate seeing how this generation is fighting, insulting, disgracing and downgrading themselves because of the past that they can’t do anything about.

As a nation, we must accept our fate and move forward for a brighter future.

A new Nigeria remains POssible.

....and now they are using some of their techniques to retain power which is "divide and rule technique"

Fellow Nigerians🇳🇬, don't allow any unscrupulous, unpatriotic, unreliable, useless, lifeless, careless, clueless and hopeless politician to use religion or tribe to deceive you again.

In my recent research, I discovered that the following factors are the major problems of political and national development in Nigeria.

1. Politics of religion--- 10%
2. Bad/old politicians--- 19.4%
3. Party politics--- 3.3%
4. All of the above--- 67.3%

Looking at the aforementioned factors you will agree with me that there's need for political revolution in Nigeria.
We must do it ourselves, no one else will fight for us, it's a collective responsibility.
However, whom do you think among the frontrunners of the presidential candidate is the right man for the job?

I want a honest response please.

1. HE Alhaji Atiku Abubakar
2. HE Mr. Peter Obi
3. HE Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinibu
4. HE Eng. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
5. Maj. Hamza Almustapha

Note: Your response will help to further the research.

Thank you

If you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless, your exposure is useless.

If you can not reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability to mankind.
