ENZYMES DIFICIENCY

...
Enzyme deficiency is a condition in which the body lacks enough of a specific enzyme needed to carry out normal biochemical reactions. Enzymes are biological catalysts that speed up chemical reactions in the body, such as digestion, metabolism, and DNA replication.

When an enzyme is missing or not working properly, certain substances may build up in the body, or essential products may not be formed. This can lead to various health problems.
Causes
Genetic mutations – Many enzyme deficiencies are inherited (passed from parents to children).
Poor nutrition – Lack of vitamins or minerals that act as enzyme cofactors.
Disease or organ damage – Especially liver or pancreatic disorders.
Environmental factors – Exposure to toxins that affect enzyme production.
Examples
Lactase deficiency – Leads to lactose intolerance; the body cannot properly digest milk sugar.
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency – A genetic disorder affecting red blood cells.
Phenylketonuria (PKU) – Caused by deficiency of the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase.
Symptoms
Digestive problems (bloating, diarrhea)
Fatigue
Developmental delay (in severe inherited cases)
Anemia (in some types)
Treatment
Treatment depends on the specific deficiency and may include:
Enzyme replacement therapy
Special diets
Vitamin or mineral supplements
Avoidance of certain foods or triggers

In summary, enzyme deficiency disrupts normal body metabolism and can range from mild digestive discomfort to serious inherited metabolic disorders.
