Guatemala has an estimated population of around 17.2 million, making it the most populous country in Central America. The Republic runs a representative democracy. Its capital and largest city is Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción, also known as Guatemala City.
The territory of modern Guatemala once formed the core of the Maya Civilization, which extended across Mesoamerica. Most of the country was conquered by the Spanish in the 16th century, becoming part of the vice royalty of New Spain.
Guatemala attained independence in 1821 as part of the Federal Republic of Central America, which dissolved by 1841.
Guatemala's abundance of biologically significant and unique ecosystems includes many endemic species and contributes to Mesoamerica's designation as a biodiversity hotspot.
Archaeologists believe that 7-11 million Maya people inhabited northern Guatemala during the late classical period from 650 to 800 A.D.
"Lidar technology digitally removed the tree canopy to reveal ancient remains and showed that Maya cities like Tikal were bigger than previously assumed. Houses, palaces, elevated highways, and defensive fortifications were unearthed by Lidar. According to the archaeologist Stephen Houston, it is one of the most overwhelming findings in over 150 years of Maya archaeology." Wikipedia.

Physics: RUTHERFORD'S ATOMIC THEORY
Earnest Rutherford (1871 - 1937) a physicist who came to be known as the father of Nuclear Physics was once a student of J. J Thomson. He modified Thomson’s theory and proved the existence of a subatomic particle – Nucleus
In 1911, Rutherford proposed that “the atom consisted of a small, dense, positively charged nucleus in the center of the atom with negatively charged electrons surrounding it”
His atomic model is based on the Alpha ray scattering experiment.
Rutherford concluded that the nucleus is at the center of an atom, where most of the charge and mass are concentrated atomic structure is spherical and electrons revolve around the nucleus in a circular orbit, similar to the way planets orbit the sun.

Physics: J. J THOMSON’S ATOMIC THEORY
Joseph John Thomson (1856-1940) was a British physicist who is well known for the discovery of the first subatomic particle – the electron. He did that by experimenting using cathode ray tube.
He discovered the electron in 1897
In his experiment, “a tube made of glass which has two openings, one for the vacuum pump and the other for the inlet through which a gas is pumped in. the role of the vacuum pump is to maintain “partial vacuum” inside the glass chamber. A high voltage power supply is connected using electrodes i.e cathode and anode is fitted inside the glass tube.”
He observed that there were rays emerging from the cathode to the anode when high voltage power is turned on. He concluded from his experiment that, the atomic structure is positively charged with negatively charged electrons engrafted.
