TSUBEB HOLDS 1-DAY MASTER TRAINING ON TECHNICAL CONTINUOUS QUALITY ASSURANCE APPROACH

The Department of Quality Assurance, Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB), has held a 1-Day Master's Training on Technical Continuous Quality Assurance Approach for Quality Assurance Officers of the Board.

The training, held at New Model Nyamusala Primary School, Jalingo, was aimed at ascertaining Quality Assurance procedures and deepening the understanding of the Continuous Quality Assurance (CQA) Approach in basic schools.

The training was facilitated by Bartholomew Francis Saleh, Assistant Director, Department of Quality Assurance, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja, who is also a Master Trainer of the Quality Assurance Department, TSUBEB.

In his presentation, Mr. Saleh explained that the Continuous Quality Assurance Approach is a technical, supportive and developmental process, not fault-finding. He took participants through:

- Modern School Evaluation tools and instruments
- Classroom observation and lesson evaluation techniques
- School Self-Evaluation
- Whole School Evaluation
- Effective reporting and feedback mechanism for school improvement

He charged the officers to move from one-off inspection to continuous monitoring, mentoring and support to Head Teachers and Teachers, to ensure quality teaching and learning outcomes across Taraba State.

Participants described the training as timely and impactful, pledging to cascade the knowledge to schools in their respective zones.

The training was attended by Quality Assurance Officers from TSUBEB headquarters and local government education authorities.

TSUBEB IN COLLABORATION WITH UBEC ORGANIZES 5-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING FOR HEAD TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has commenced a 5-Day Capacity Building Training for Head Teachers and Principals on Quality Assurance Procedures in Basic Schools.

Theme: Quality Assurance Procedures in Basic Schools

Venue:New Model Nyamusala Primary School, Jalingo

Date: 30th September - 2nd October, 2026.

The training is aimed at strengthening the capacity of school leaders for effective school management and quality service delivery in basic education schools across the state.

Facilitating the training, the Assistant Director, Department of Monitoring and Evaluation, UBEC Abuja, Mr. Bartholomew Francis Saleh, said the purpose of the training is to build capacity in terms of how Head Teachers and Principals conduct school evaluations.

According to him, “We have discovered over time that most of the headmasters don’t have the skills and what it takes to properly evaluate their schools and report for interventions.”

He noted that the training will equip participants with modern tools and techniques for school self-evaluation, classroom observation, data collection and reporting for necessary interventions.

In his remarks, the Director, Quality Assurance, TSUBEB, Mr. Bulus Emmanuel, advised participants to apply the knowledge gained in their respective schools to improve learning outcomes.

He also expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairperson of TSUBEB, Hon. Christiana Taninga Binga (Naa Kungana), for creating an enabling environment for capacity building and professional growth of teachers in the state.

He urged participants to be punctual, participatory and to cascade the training to other teachers in their schools.

The training drew participants from across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

TSUBEB IN COLLABORATION WITH UBEC FLAGS OFF EDUTRACK APPLICATION, WEBSITE AND CAPACITY BUILDING FOR ICT STAFF

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB), in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has officially flagged off the TSUBEB EDUTRACK Application and Website, alongside a capacity building programme for ICT staff across the state.

The flag-off ceremony, which held in Jalingo, is aimed at digitizing and strengthening the management of basic education for greater efficiency, transparency and improved learning outcomes in Taraba State.

In her welcome address, the Executive Chairperson of TSUBEB Hon. Mrs. Christiana T.Binga stated that the vision for basic education in the state demands accountability and results. She noted that TSUBEB is embracing technology for practical tools that will transform basic education delivery.

According to her, "Our vision demands accountability and results. TSUBEB is embracing technology for practical tools for basic education. We are enhancing education through technology to ensure effective monitoring, data-driven decisions, and quality teaching and learning in our schools."

Delivering her goodwill message, the Honourable Commissioner for Secondary,Technical and Vocational Dr. Augustina Godwin, said government has invested heavily in ICT to reposition the education sector. She charged teachers and education managers to make good use of the facilities provided.

"Money has been spent to purchase these ICT equipment and tablets. Teachers should make good use of these tablets to enhance learning in the classroom," Dr. Godwin said. She commended the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for creating an enabling environment for learning through his commitment to free education and massive investment in the education sector.

In his goodwill message, the representative of UBEC, Hamidu Raji, reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to supporting Taraba State. He said UBEC will continue to provide the necessary support, synergy and oversight to ensure that the objectives of this platform and website are fully achieved for the benefit of learners and teachers in the state.

The official launching of the TSUBEB EDUTRACK Application and Website was performed by the Commissioner for Nursery and Primary Education, represented by Umar Adamu Maikudi. He described the innovation as a milestone that will enhance transparency, real-time data collection, school supervision and overall performance of basic education in Taraba State.

The high point of the event was the overview and live demonstration of the TSUBEB EDUTRACK App and Website by Mr. Bashir, who took participants through the features, functionalities and benefits of the platform, including school mapping, teacher and learner enrolment, attendance tracking, and performance monitoring.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Zachariah John Permanent Member 2 appreciated UBEC, the state government, and all stakeholders for their support. He encouraged participants of the capacity building training to pay rapt attention and be good ambassadors of the new digital reform in their respective local government areas.

The TSUBEB EDUTRACK project is expected to revolutionize basic education administration in Taraba State in line with the digital transformation agenda of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas.

FLAG-OFF AND DISTRIBUTION OF 2024/2025 UBEC MATCHING GRANT PROCURED MATERIALS

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board, TSUBEB, on Wednesday, 9th September 2026, flagged off the distribution of materials and equipment procured under the 2024/2025 Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Matching Grant.

The event was attended by top government functionaries, members of the State House of Assembly, education stakeholders, and management of TSUBEB.

In her opening speech, the Executive Chairperson of TSUBEB, Hon. Mrs. Christiana Taninga Binga, said the materials are critical tools for improving education delivery in the state.
"These materials are not merely government assets. They are instruments for better service delivery, better supervision and better educational outcomes. As a board, we are fully committed to ensuring that these resources are distributed fairly, transparently and responsibly in accordance with the purpose for which they were provided," she said.

Speaking during the event, the Hon. Commissioner for Secondary, Vocational and Technical Education, Dr. Augustina Yaya Godwin, described the intervention as a major boost to education in Taraba State.
"This is a great empowerment to the education sector in Taraba State and these educational materials will enhance quality education," she stated.

The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Hosea Angyu, in his remarks noted that "education is the bedrock of every society." He commended the Board for ensuring that education policies are being implemented effectively.

The Director of Procurement, TSUBEB, Mr. Balanku Vahnoka, highlighted some of the procured items to include:
1. Six Hilux vans for monitoring and evaluation
2. 63 motorcycles
3. ECCD equipment
4. Cyber computers
5. Servers
6. ICT equipment
7. And lots more instructional materials

In their goodwill messages, the Majority Leader of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Jethro Yakubu, encouraged teachers to put in their best and assured that the House of Assembly will continue to provide an enabling environment for learning.

The Head of Service, Dr. Ahmed Hamidu Kara, also advised that the equipment should be put to proper use to achieve the intended purpose.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Permanent Member 1 of TSUBEB, Ambassador Musa John, said: "The free education is yielding evidence, it is not a hype." He appreciated the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for the free education policy and thanked the state government for its continued support.

The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. John Bonzena Kizito, commended Governor Agbu Kefas for the payment of the matching grant.
"Any investment in education is never a waste," he said.

Representing the Executive Governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Gibon Kataps, declared that free education is compulsory in Taraba State. He charged the Board and the Ministry to ensure proper monitoring of the materials.
"The board and commission must monitor that these materials are not sold in the black market. The board should track down all the materials," he warned.

The flag-off and cutting of tape was performed by the SSG, Barr. Gibon Kataps, signaling the commencement of distribution of the materials across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

TSUBEB TAKES FLHE SENSITIZATION TO KURU KONA PALACE AND JALINGO MARKETS

JALINGO, TARABA STATE– The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has held a Family Life and Health Education (FLHE) sensitization and awareness campaign at the palace of the Kuru Kona, His Royal Majesty Mr. Augustine Njemang Vengkani II (JP). The campaign is aimed at promoting healthy family practices, improving personal hygiene, and increasing school enrolment among children across the state.

Speaking during the event, the Executive Chairperson of TSUBEB, Hon. Mrs. Christiana Binga, thanked the Kuru Kona for hosting the Board and reaffirmed TSUBEB’s commitment to improving health and educational outcomes for children and families in Taraba State.

In their goodwill messages, Permanent Member I, Amb. Musa John, urged parents to prioritize their children’s education as the foundation for a brighter future. Permanent Member II, Dr. Zachariah John, emphasized the link between good healthcare, personal hygiene, and academic performance. He also encouraged parents to take advantage of the free education policy of the Taraba State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas.

The resource person, Dr. Masa-ibi, highlighted the scope of FLHE to include healthy family relationships, balanced nutrition, disease prevention, adolescent guidance, HIV/AIDS awareness, drug abuse prevention, life skills, and the importance of education. He called on parents and community leaders to support the holistic development of children.

In his response, His Royal Majesty Mr. Augustine Njemang Vengkani II (JP) commended TSUBEB and the Taraba State Government for the initiative. He lauded the free education policy and pledged the support of his community to ensure increased school enrolment. He further urged parents to desist from a laissez-faire attitude toward their children’s upbringing.

Following the palace engagement, the sensitization team led by Hon. Mrs. Binga, alongside Permanent Members Amb. Musa John and Dr. Zachariah John, Directors, and Board staff, embarked on a road awareness campaign. The team engaged traders and residents at Mile Six Market, Mile Six Bypass, NTA, Millennium Suites, Roundabout na Sarki, Gen. T.Y. Danjuma Way ATC Bypass, Kasuwan Bera, and Nukkai Market on the importance of FLHE for building healthier families and stronger communities.

TSUBEB reiterates its commitment to partnering with traditional institutions, parents, and community stakeholders to ensure every child in Taraba State has access to quality education and a healthy environment to thrive.

GOVERNOR AGBU KEFAS REWARDS TARABA STUDENTS WHO EMERGED VICTORIOUS AT THE 2026 INTERNATIONAL DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN RWANDA

In recognition of their outstanding performance at the 2026 International Debate Championship held in Rwanda, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, has rewarded the victorious students with a cash award of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000) each.

Following their remarkable achievement, which brought honour not only to Taraba State but also to Nigeria, Governor Kefas hosted the students to an intimate dinner at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, where he celebrated their excellence and commended their dedication, resilience, and commitment to academic distinction.

In further demonstration of his unwavering commitment to educational advancement under the Moving Forward Agenda, the Governor presented the students with the cash rewards through the Executive Chairperson of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB), Hon.
