CHANCELLOR VISITS GREENLAND UNIVERSITY, REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR INSTITUTION’S VISION

Greenland University, Jalingo, has received its distinguished Chancellor, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar, CFR, during an official visit to the University.

The Chancellor was accompanied by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Sheleng, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Isa, and the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Greenland University, Senator Abubakar Sani Danladi.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Chancellor to tour the University and assess first-hand the facilities and infrastructure supporting the institution’s vision for modern higher education.

During the tour, His Royal Highness inspected several facilities, including the University’s digital infrastructure, modern classrooms, library, auditorium, hostels, sports complex and other key facilities.

The visit also brought together distinguished personalities and members of the University community, creating a memorable atmosphere of excitement, pride and renewed commitment to the vision of Greenland University.

Speaking during the visit, the Chancellor encouraged the Management Team to remain focused and committed to building an institution distinguished by excellence, innovation, discipline and strong academic values. He expressed confidence in the future of Greenland University and reaffirmed his support for the institution.

His Royal Highness also brings extensive experience in university governance and leadership, having served as Chancellor of three other universities in Nigeria. His wealth of experience continues to provide valuable institutional guidance as Greenland University develops its academic and administrative structures.

The University Management, led by the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ojo S. Fayomi, expressed appreciation to the Chancellor for his visit, fatherly guidance and continued confidence in the vision of the institution.

The visit represents another significant milestone in Greenland University’s journey of building a modern, innovative and globally relevant institution of higher learning.

What We Discovered at Moddibo Adamawa University Gives Us Even More Reason to Dream Big!

I paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Ibrahim Umar, Vice-Chancellor, Modibbo Adama University, Yola, and his management team.

As a newly established university committed to academic excellence, institutional growth and sustainable development, Greenland University, Jalingo, greatly values the mentorship relationship established by the National Universities Commission (NUC), with Modibbo Adama University serving as our mentor and guardian institution.

The visit was truly a homecoming, warm, interactive, exciting and inspiring. I sincerely appreciate the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for the exceptional reception and, more importantly, for their expressed readiness to support Greenland University in our academic and administrative development.

I was particularly impressed by the university’s 5MW solar power project, a remarkable demonstration of innovation, sustainability and institutional vision. Such initiatives remind us that Nigerian universities can overcome significant challenges when we embrace technology, creativity and collaboration.

No doubt, collaboration strengthens institutions, and innovation opens new possibilities. Together, we can contribute to a stronger and more sustainable future for Nigerian higher education.

When One University Succeeds, Higher Education Wins

One of the beautiful things about academia is its culture of mutual respect, collaboration and celebrating one another's progress. Universities may have different identities and visions, but we all share a common responsibility: to advance knowledge, develop people and contribute meaningfully to society.

In the spirit of this academic culture, I was honoured to accept the invitation to join a distinguished administrator and namesake, Professor Sunday Paul Bako, the Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Jalingo, at the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the University.

I attended the historic occasion as the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Greenland University, Jalingo, and conveyed the goodwill and congratulations of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff and students of Greenland University.

The event was not just a convocation; it was an opportunity to witness the remarkable progress and development taking place at Taraba State University. It was inspiring to see an institution continuing to grow, produce graduates and strengthen its contribution to the educational development of Taraba State and Nigeria.

A special congratulations also goes to the graduating students. Your graduation is not the end of your journey; it is the beginning of a greater responsibility. Go into the world as worthy ambassadors of Taraba State University. Let your knowledge, character, competence and contributions speak for the institution that has prepared you.

I particularly celebrate the PhD graduates, whose achievements represent years of research, sacrifice and intellectual commitment, as well as the First Class graduates, whose outstanding performance demonstrates that excellence is possible when preparation meets determination.

Congratulations also to the Chancellor on his installation. I wish him a successful and impactful tenure as he joins the leadership and growth journey of the University.

Once again, congratulations to Taraba State University, Jalingo, and to every graduand of the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Combined Convocation Ceremony.

May this achievement be the beginning of greater accomplishments!

Greenland University Management Visits Ministry of Tertiary Education, Reaffirms Readiness for October 2026 Academic Session

The Management of Greenland University, Jalingo, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ojo Fayomi, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Tertiary Education, where the team engaged with the top management of the Ministry.

During the visit, the Greenland University Management expressed the University's readiness to formally commence its academic session in October 2026, reaffirming its commitment to providing quality and innovative higher education in Taraba State and beyond.

The Management also sought the Ministry's support, guidance, and partnership as the University prepares to commence academic activities and contribute meaningfully to the development of higher education and human capital in the state.

In his response, the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mike Dio Jen, expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed the University's commitment to contributing to the educational development of Taraba State. He further pledged his support and cooperation towards the successful take-off and growth of Greenland University.

The engagement marks another important step in Greenland University's efforts to build strong institutional partnerships and ensure a successful commencement of academic activities in October 2026.
