NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF EBIRA STUDENTS (NAES), UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN CHAPTER

BEING THE SPEECH DELIVERED AT THE 2016/2017 SENSITIZATION VISIT TO VARIOUS SECONDARY SCHOOLS, ACROSS EBIRALAND BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN 27TH AND 31ST OF MARCH, 2017.

All glory, adoration and thanks belong to almighty God for making this day a reality. Before I proceed, let me quickly use this moment to appreciate the principal and other members of staff for the warm host accorded us in this citadel of learning. I pray that God almighty will reward you all for your service to humanity (Amen).

Honestly, it’s a pleasure of lifetime to stand before you today. I feel elated to welcome you all to this programme, as it is a clarion call to all Ebira students and youths in general and also extend my deep appreciation to you all for choosing to spare us this time out of your tight schedule

By way of introduction, THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF EBIRA STUDENTS (NAES) UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN CHAPTER is a clan-free, non-religious and apolitical association aimed at providing unity, cooperation, friendship, mutual understanding and enhancing academic excellence amongst all students of university of Ilorin in particular and by extension the generality of Ebira students within and outside Nigeria as a way of contributing our own quota to the progress of our fatherland, the cultural heritage, education and development of our homeland.

Fellow Ebira students, it is due to our desire for positive change and development that we deem it fit to pay a courtesy visit to you and other personalities across the land as we have no other place to call our home, hence upholding the tenet of “HOME IS HOME”.

Please don’t be among the jewel of evil clubs and assemblies who carryout heinous activities such as thuggery, higher assassination, drug abuse, examination malpractice and other social vices in our once peaceful and enviable land. I sincerely hope that after listening to our speaker today, you will take charge of your lives and author it from the scratch. How will you use your God-given gift? What choices will you make? Will inertia be your guide or will you allow you passion to guide you? Will you dogmatically follow the trend or will you be original and be responsible for your actions and inactions?

To fulfill our ambition, we must act at all time with humility, courage and forthrightness. I enjoin you, fellow students to join us in rebuilding our land; one that defines the success of one by the happiness of all. I implore you all to set aside negative attitudes and concentrate on getting to your destination. This we can do, by doing the right thing at the right time. Therefore, all hands must be on deck.

Once upon a time in history, was a land flourishing in uniqueness and splendor, a people with the golden rules of Godliness, hard work, honesty, trustworthiness, togetherness among other highly printable values. These core values made her neighbours grew green with envy; they were known and regarded as trusted allies. The bond between Ebiras of that time was second to none, which made their unity of purpose impervious for enemies to infiltrate.
Let us return to the golden rules of our forefathers as it can only make us to stand tall among the committee of tribes. We therefore, implore you all to join us and participate actively in anything that contribute to the progress of our homeland, since it is the only symbol that represent us in this great nation, Nigeria; knowing fully well that the future of Ebiraland lies in our hands.

Conclusively, remember that “success is not a game of chance; it is believing in oneself that all obstacles are surmountable and a must achieved necessity”.
ETE EBIRA VEZOZA!!!

Long live NAES
Long live Ebiraland!!
Long live Nigeria!!!
