JAMB RULES OUT EXTENSION OF CLOSING DATE FOR 2026 UTME REGISTRATION
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated that it will not extend the registration deadline for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB announced that so far about one million candidates have already registered for the ongoing 2026 UTME. Candidates are to note that the sales of ePIN will end February 26th while registration ends February 28th, 2026, urging them to complete their registration without delay.
JAMB also expressed concern over the low turnout of candidates at some accredited CBT centres, noting that many candidates who have already purchased their ePINs are yet to finalize their registration.
According to the Board, the current examination schedule is tight, making any extension unlikely. Candidates are therefore advised to avoid last-minute rush and ensure they finish all registration processes before the deadline, as failure to do so may lead to missing the examination.
The Board warned candidates against relying on rumours of a possible extension and encouraged strict compliance with the official timeline.
It further explained that extending the registration period was practically impossible as its operational calendar was tightly aligned with those of other sister examination bodies.
Any extension would disrupt this coordinated schedule and encroach on timelines already allocated to other national examinations.

YOU CANโT BE IN UNIVERSITY AND STILL WRITE JAMB
NEW JAMB UPDATE
A lot of students need to sit down and read this carefully.
JAMB has made it clear: you cannot run two admissions at the same time.
If you accepted admission last year (2025) into any university, polytechnic, college of education, or monotechnic, you are NOT allowed to register for JAMB 2026.
Yes. Even if you donโt like the course.
Even if you want to change school.
Even if you think โIโll just try again.โ
Once you accepted the admission, JAMB already recognizes you as a student.
So what does this mean?
If you are currently schooling, or you accepted admission last year, you have only TWO options:
Option 1:
Continue with the admission you already accepted.
No JAMB. No new course. No new school.
Option 2:
Formally withdraw your admission from that school.
This means writing a withdrawal letter and ensuring your admission is cleared from the system.
Only after this can you legally register for a new JAMB exam.
Now, letโs clear another confusion ๐
If you rejected admission in 2025 (you did NOT accept it on CAPS), then you are FREE to write JAMB 2026.
No problem. No restriction.
But if you clicked โACCEPTโ last year and did nothing after that, JAMB sees you as an active student.
And no, you cannot be in school and still โtry JAMB again on the side.โ
JAMB will block it.
This update is very important because many students donโt know this until itโs too late.
Before you register for JAMB:
โข Check your CAPS status
โข Confirm whether you accepted any admission last year
โข Decide wisely, continue or withdraw
One wrong assumption can waste an entire year.
Stay informed.
Stay ahead.
Prepare wisely

๐ฅ JUST IN๐ฅ
UTME registration will commence tomorrow, Monday, January 26, and run until February 28, as JAMB has screened 924 CBT centres nationwide for the 2026 UTME, with final tests to be conducted before full accreditation to ensure a smooth and credible examination.
E-PIN sales began on January 19. Only candidates with e-PIN can register. DM to get your e-PIN now.
Direct Entry registration starts March 2.
Only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible, with underage candidates considered only in rare cases after strict evaluation.

๐น 1. Profile Code
โข When you want to register for JAMB (UTME or Direct Entry), you first generate a profile code.
โข You do this by sending your NIN (National Identification Number) via SMS to 55019 or 66019 in the format:
NIN 12345678901 (with a space) โ then JAMB sends you a 10-digit profile code to your phone. ๏ฟผ
โข This profile code identifies you in JAMBโs system and is linked to your phone number and your NIN. ๏ฟผ
๐น 2. e-PIN (Electronic Pin)
โข The e-PIN is a payment authorization code โ it proves you have paid for the examination registration form. ๏ฟผ
โข You cannot get an e-PIN until you have a profile code. ๏ฟผ
๐น 3. How They Work Together
Hereโs the connection step by step:
1. Generate Profile Code โ
This tells JAMB who you are. ๏ฟผ
2. Use Profile Code to Buy an e-PIN โ
At the bank, online portal, fintech app, or vendor, you give them your profile code and make the required payment. ๏ฟผ
3. Receive e-PIN โ
After payment, the e-PIN is sent to the same phone number linked to your profile. ๏ฟผ
4. Go to a JAMB-Accredited CBT Centre with BOTH:
โข Your profile code
โข Your e-PIN
They will complete your registration, capture your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph), and print your registration slip. ๏ฟผ
๐น In Short
โ
Profile Code = Your identity in JAMBโs system
โ
e-PIN = Proof youโve paid and are allowed to register
โ You need both to complete JAMB registration. ๏ฟผ
