CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

The Management, Council, staff, and students of Muhammad Kamaludeen University (MKU), Ilorin, receive with profound sorrow the news of the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Fadheelatush-Shaykh Dr. Imam Muhammad Bashir Solih, OON, a highly respected Islamic scholar, spiritual leader, and a beacon of guidance to the Ilorin Emirate and the Muslim Ummah at large.

In this moment of grief, we mourn alongside our Chancellor, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the Emir of Ilorin, and extend our heartfelt condolences to him, the Ilorin Emirate Council, and the entire people of Ilorin. We also sincerely condole his teacher and mentor, the Khaleefatul Adabiyyeen, Samahatush-Shaykh AbdulKadir Adisa Kamaludeen, whose scholarly and spiritual influence greatly shaped the life, character, and service of the late Chief Imam.

Fadheelatush-Shaykh Dr. Imam Muhammad Bashir Solih, OON, was a symbol of humility, sound scholarship, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to the cause of Islam. He dedicated his life to the worship of Allah, the propagation of authentic Islamic teachings, the promotion of peace, tolerance, and communal harmony, and the strengthening of moral and ethical values in society. His sermons, leadership, and counsel inspired generations and contributed immensely to the spiritual growth and unity of Ilorin and beyond.

His legacy of knowledge, piety, moderation, and selfless service to humanity will remain indelible in our hearts. Indeed, Ilorin has lost a guiding light, and the Ummah has lost a devoted servant of Allah whose absence will be deeply felt.

We pray that Allah (Subḥānahu wa Taʿālā) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his righteous deeds, expands his grave with light, and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant patience, strength, and solace to our Chancellor, the Emir of Ilorin; the Khaleefatul Adabiyyeen; the family of the deceased; and the entire people of Ilorin and the Muslim Ummah to bear this great loss.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.

MKU Bags IEDPU Institutional Award as Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, Is Inducted into Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame

The Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University (MKU), Ilorin, has been honoured with an institutional award of recognition by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) in recognition of its outstanding contributions to education and community development within the Ilorin Emirate.

The award was presented on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the IEDPU National Secretariat, Geri Alimi, Ilorin, as part of activities marking the Union’s 60th Annual National Conference. The event also featured the second induction of 25 distinguished personalities into the Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame.

At the same ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor of MKU, Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, OFR, NPOM (Talba of Ilorin), was inducted and decorated into the prestigious Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame in recognition of his enduring service, exemplary leadership, and immense contributions to education and national development.

While presenting the institutional award to the Vice-Chancellor of MKU, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, the National President of IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, described the University as “a pride of the Ilorin Emirate.” He explained that MKU was selected for the honour due to its growing impact, impressive service delivery, and its role in projecting Ilorin as a centre of learning.

Alhaji Abdulmalik, a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, noted that the University’s steady progress and unwavering commitment to quality education continue to enhance the image of the Ilorin Emirate both locally and internationally.

In his response, Prof. Jimoh expressed deep appreciation to the IEDPU for the honour, describing it as both encouraging and motivating. He assured the Union that the recognition would further inspire the University to intensify its efforts towards excellence in teaching, research, and community service.

He described MKU as the crowning achievement of the first Grand M***i of Ilorin, Shaykh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adabiy, noting that although the revered scholar did not acquire Western education through a formal system, he emerged as a foremost advocate and promoter of quality formal education in Nigeria and beyond.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed MKU’s commitment to human development and societal progress, pledging that the University would continue to uphold the values and vision exemplified by Shaykh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adabiy for the benefit of the Ilorin Emirate, Nigeria, and humanity at large.

The ceremony underscored IEDPU’s continued commitment to celebrating institutions and individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced the growth, prestige, and intellectual heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.

MKU VC Delivers 7th Adebayo Adelodun & Co. Quarterly Roundtable Lecture

The Vice-Chancellor of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU), Ilorin, on Friday, 20th December, 2025, delivered the 7th Adebayo Adelodun & Co. Quarterly Roundtable Lecture via Zoom.

The NBA-accredited training, which attracted 1 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point, was themed “Artificial Intelligence and the Law: Opportunities, Challenges and Ethics.” The lecture commenced at 10:00 a.m. (African/Lagos Time) and was held virtually through a Zoom platform.

The session was well attended, drawing participants from within and outside the University community, including members of the legal profession, academics, students, and other stakeholders keenly interested in the evolving interface between technology and the law.

Distinguished personalities in attendance included Mallam Ola Olu Alli, SAN (Kunya Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate the First) and Professor Ni’mah Modupe AbdulRaheem, whose presence further underscored the importance and credibility of the programme.

In his presentation, the Vice-Chancellor provided a rich and insightful exposition on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in legal practice, highlighting its vast opportunities, emerging challenges, and the ethical considerations that must guide its adoption. The lecture was widely commended for its depth, clarity, and practical relevance to contemporary legal and academic discourse.

100 Scholars, 4 Years, Endless Gratitude

His Excellency, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON), the 13th President of the Nigerian Senate during the 8th National Assembly, played a historic and commendable role in the establishment of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU). On 23rd November, 2023, he graciously attended the official commissioning of the University in his capacity as the Baba Adinni of Ansarul-Islam and as a proud son of the soil whose unwavering support was instrumental to the realization of the institution.

At the commissioning ceremony, His Excellency announced the award of a four-year scholarship to 100 students of MKU, covering their academic journey from the first year to the final year. The beneficiaries were carefully selected, and true to his reputation as a man of integrity and action, His Excellency has faithfully fulfilled this noble pledge by fully sponsoring the first two years of the scholarship without any hindrance. As the beneficiaries now advance into their third year, there remains strong confidence that this generous support will, as always, be sustained to completion.

In heartfelt appreciation of this life-changing gesture, the beneficiaries of the scholarship, accompanied by their parents and members of the University management, attended the 64th birthday celebration of His Excellency. On the occasion, the students presented a uniquely designed cake bearing his portrait and the inscription: “100 Scholars, 4 Years, Endless Gratitude.” This symbolic presentation reflected the profound appreciation of the beneficiaries whose academic pursuits have been strengthened and secured through his benevolence.

His Excellency, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, stands as a statesman of rare distinction—an advocate of education, a bridge-builder, and a visionary leader whose investments in human capital continue to transform lives and shape the future. MKU Celebrates Its Chairman, Board of Trustees, as He Marks 94 Years of Service to Humanity

Ilorin, Nigeria — Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU), Ilorin, has joined the global Muslim community, education stakeholders, and well-wishers to celebrate its Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Alhaji (Chief) S. L. Afolabi, fondly known as Alhaji PEACE, as he marks 94 remarkable years of impactful service to humanity.

Alhaji (Chief) S. L. Afolabi, who also doubles as the National President of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria Worldwide, is widely acknowledged for his lifelong commitment to Islam, education, peacebuilding, and community development. At 94, he continues to exemplify exceptional mental agility, clarity of purpose, administrative competence, and uncommon vitality, qualities that have continued to inspire admiration within and beyond the University community.

Remarking on his uncommon capacity, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Al-Imam Engr. Musa M. Kamaludeen, described the Chairman as a leader of rare distinction.

“Despite his age, the Chairman remains exceptionally agile and incisive. He directs meetings with clarity, firmness, and confidence, articulating his thoughts without mincing words, as if he were still in his teens. His intellectual sharpness and command of issues remain truly inspiring,” he stated.

In a statement issued by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rasheed G. Jimoh, the University described Alhaji (Chief) S. L. Afolabi as a pillar of strength and moral compass whose leadership has continued to shape the vision, stability, and values of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University.

“Our Chairman, Board of Trustees, represents the finest ideals of service, humility, and purposeful leadership. His life of devotion to faith, education, and humanity remains a guiding light to MKU and the larger ummah,” the Vice-Chancellor noted.

The University emphasized that Alhaji Afolabi’s influence transcends institutional leadership, as his role within Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria Worldwide has contributed immensely to the advancement of Islamic education, unity, and peaceful coexistence across generations.

Offering special prayers on behalf of the University, the Registrar of MKU prayed for Allah’s continued mercy and blessings upon the elder statesman.

“We pray that Allah (SWT) grants our esteemed Chairman continued good health, strength, tranquility, and steadfast faith. May Allah reward his 94 years of selfless service with abundant blessings in this world and the hereafter, preserve his noble legacy, and grant him the highest ranks in Jannah when his time comes,” the Registrar prayed.

The accreditation exercise, which spanned one month and a few days, has officially been concluded, marking another significant milestone in the University’s steady and remarkable growth within its first two years of establishment.

MKU Senate Approves 2025/2026 Academic Calendar, Concludes 2024/2025 Session

The Senate of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU) at a special meeting held today, 10th Rabi’ al-Thani 1447 AH (Thursday, October 2, 2025), to mark the end of the 2024/2025 Academic Session, unanimously approved the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar after making necessary corrections to Continuous Assessments, End of Semester Lectures, and Revision periods.

According to the approved schedule, the 2025/2026 Academic Session will officially commence on 24th Rabi’ al-Thani 1447 AH (Thursday, October 16, 2025). All new and returning students are to resume on campus from 28th Rabi’ al-Thani 1447 AH (Monday, October 20, 2025).

Prof. M.J. Saka praised the Management for addressing all corrections previously highlighted in the 2024/2025 Academic Calendar, describing it as a step toward stronger academic planning. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. R.G. Jimoh, reassured the Senate of the University’s preparedness for the forthcoming accreditation exercise, reaffirming that MKU has consistently adhered to NUC standards since its inception.

The Registrar, Engr. M.M. Kamaludeen, emphasized that the University is fully prepared for the new session, noting that MKU is “coming bigger and better” with improved facilities and a more robust academic environment.
