Chief Adebayo Oba Adelodun, SAN, Donates Law Textbooks Worth Millions to Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University

Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University (MKU), Ilorin, has received another significant boost towards the establishment of its proposed Faculty of Law following the donation of law textbooks worth several millions of naira by distinguished legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Adebayo Oba Adelodun, SAN.

The books were formally presented to the University on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the donor’s chambers as part of his commitment to advancing legal education and supporting institutions dedicated to producing competent legal professionals.

Speaking during the presentation, Chief Adebayo Oba Adelodun, SAN, described education as one of the strongest pillars of national development. He expressed confidence in the vision of Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University and its capacity to nurture future lawyers who will contribute meaningfully to the legal profession and national development.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, FNCS, described the gesture as a timely and strategic intervention that would significantly strengthen the University’s preparations for the commencement of its Law programme.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the donated textbooks will greatly enrich the University’s library holdings and provide valuable academic resources for both staff and prospective students as the institution prepares for the National Universities Commission (NUC) resource verification exercise.

Professor Jimoh reaffirmed the University’s unwavering commitment to the vision and enduring legacies of its Founder, Sheikh (Dr.) Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Habeebullah Musa Al-Adabiy, particularly in providing quality education founded on excellence, integrity, and service to humanity.

He conveyed the profound appreciation of the Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff, students, and the entire University community to Chief Adebayo Oba Adelodun, SAN, for his remarkable generosity and prayed that Almighty Allah grants him continued good health, abundant blessings, and greater accomplishments in all his endeavours.

This latest donation adds to the growing wave of support from distinguished members of the legal profession towards the successful take-off of the University’s Faculty of Law.

Earlier, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, the Kuliyan Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate, donated over 200 current law textbooks worth several millions of naira, providing another major boost to the University’s library resources in preparation for the commencement of the programme.

Similarly, Professor Mubarak Adekilekun has generously sponsored the University’s subscription to leading online legal research databases, thereby giving students and academic staff access to globally recognised legal journals, law reports, statutes, treaties, and other authoritative research materials. This investment substantially strengthens the University’s digital legal research infrastructure and aligns it with international best practices in legal education.

The Faculty of Law at Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University is under the academic leadership of a member of the Governing Council, Professor Ni’mah Modupe AbdulRaheem, whose vision and dedication continue to drive the development of a modern, globally competitive, and professionally oriented law programme.

It is with profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah that we announce the passing of Fadhilatush Sheikh Abdulkadir Adisa Kamaludeen, the Pioneer Visitor of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University.

Sheikh Abdulkadir Adisa Kamaludeen was an eminent Islamic scholar, mentor, philanthropist, and visionary leader whose immense contributions to Islamic education and human development have left an indelible mark on society. His wisdom, exemplary character, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of knowledge will continue to inspire generations.

On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff, Students, and the entire Muhammad Kamalud-deen University community, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, associates, disciples, and all those affected by this monumental loss.

We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, grants him a spacious and illuminated grave, and admits him into Al-Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant his family, loved ones, and the entire Ummah the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem Donates ₦4 Million to Support MKU Academic Development and Program Verification

The Chairman of the Governing Council of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, has once again extended his personal financial support to the University with a donation of ₦4,000,000 (Four Million Naira) aimed at strengthening key academic and infrastructural needs of the institution.

The donation is intended to support multiple critical areas, including the re-roofing and rehabilitation of the University’s two-storey academic building proposed for the College of Law and the College of Health Sciences, as well as facilitating resource verification processes for the College of Health and Allied Sciences and the Law programmes.

Prof. AbdulRaheem, who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the growth and stability of the University, described his continued support as part of a broader responsibility towards sustaining the vision of academic excellence and institutional development since the University’s inception.

He further noted that his contributions are also meant to encourage other stakeholders, philanthropists, and well-meaning individuals to support the development of the institution.

In response to appreciation from the University management team, he humbly reiterated that his actions were in fulfillment of a personal promise made to his mentor, Shaykh Muhammad Kamalud-deen HabeebuLlah Musa Al-Adabiy.

Alabelewe Sets Historic Pace with One-Year Professorial Endowment Commitment for Muhammad Kamalud-deen University

At the weekly lecture of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria held at Okekere, Ilorin, the Registrar of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University and National Murshid of the Youth Wing of the Society, Engr. Musa M. Kamaludeen Al-Adabiy, passionately called on well-meaning philanthropists and stakeholders to support the growth and development of the University through various intervention initiatives, including professorial endowment programmes.

In a significant and historic development, during a courtesy visit by the Management of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, to the Abuja office of the Second National Vice President of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Alhaji Sharafuddeen Alabelewe publicly declared his readiness to set the pace as the first individual to champion a one-year Professorial Endowment in the history of the University.

Speaking during the engagement, Alhaji Sharafuddeen Alabelewe stated that he would prefer the endowment to be in the field of Accounting, being his area of specialization. He further encouraged other well-meaning Nigerians and lovers of educational advancement to emulate the gesture, emphasizing that the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria remains a non-profit organization deeply committed to giving back to society and contributing meaningfully to human development.

MKU Celebrates Her Chairman BoT on His Conferment as Seyyidul Adabiyyah (The Leader of the Adabiyyah)

Muhammad Kamaludeen University (MKU) proudly celebrates its pioneer Chairman, Board of Trustees, Alhaji Chief Suleiman Layiwola Afolabi, on his conferment as Seyyidul Adabiyyah (The Leader of the Adabiyyah). This prestigious honour was awarded by the Ittihaad Diwali lil Ma’ahidil Adabiyyah (International Association of Al-Adabiyyah Institutes, Lagos Branch) in recognition of his lifelong service to Islam, education, and humanity.

Now in his advanced years, Alhaji Afolabi remains a towering figure in the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, where he currently serves as National President. His life reflects unwavering faith, discipline, and purposeful leadership, nurtured under the guidance of the esteemed Shaykh Muhammad Kamaludeen HabeebuLlah Musa Al-Adabiyy.

His journey in the Society is a remarkable story of steady growth and enduring commitment. Beginning as the pioneer Financial Secretary of the Youth Wing in 1953, he rose through key positions including Assistant General Secretary, National Financial Secretary, National Auditor, and 1st Vice President, before attaining the position of National President. Each stage of his service has been marked by integrity, diligence, and a deep sense of responsibility.

His contributions to Islamic education and institutional development remain profound. He has supported the establishment and growth of schools, strengthened governance structures, and consistently promoted unity and discipline within the Society. At MKU, he serves as the pioneer Chairman of the Board of Trustees, providing guidance and continuity to the vision of a university rooted in faith, knowledge, and excellence.

The conferment of Seyyidul Adabiyyah is a fitting recognition of a lifetime dedicated to leadership, service, and the preservation of the Adabiyyah legacy.

The Management, Council, staff, and students of Muhammad Kamaludeen University (MKU), Ilorin, receive with profound sorrow the news of the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Fadheelatush-Shaykh Dr. Imam Muhammad Bashir Solih, OON, a highly respected Islamic scholar, spiritual leader, and a beacon of guidance to the Ilorin Emirate and the Muslim Ummah at large.

In this moment of grief, we mourn alongside our Chancellor, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the Emir of Ilorin, and extend our heartfelt condolences to him, the Ilorin Emirate Council, and the entire people of Ilorin. We also sincerely condole his teacher and mentor, the Khaleefatul Adabiyyeen, Samahatush-Shaykh AbdulKadir Adisa Kamaludeen, whose scholarly and spiritual influence greatly shaped the life, character, and service of the late Chief Imam.

Fadheelatush-Shaykh Dr. Imam Muhammad Bashir Solih, OON, was a symbol of humility, sound scholarship, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to the cause of Islam. We pray that Allah (Subḥānahu wa Taʿālā) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his righteous deeds, expands his grave with light, and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant patience, strength, and solace to our Chancellor, the Emir of Ilorin; the Khaleefatul Adabiyyeen; the family of the deceased; and the entire people of Ilorin and the Muslim Ummah to bear this great loss.

MKU Bags IEDPU Institutional Award as Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, Is Inducted into Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame

The Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University (MKU), Ilorin, has been honoured with an institutional award of recognition by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) in recognition of its outstanding contributions to education and community development within the Ilorin Emirate.

The award was presented on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the IEDPU National Secretariat, Geri Alimi, Ilorin, as part of activities marking the Union’s 60th Annual National Conference. The event also featured the second induction of 25 distinguished personalities into the Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame.

At the same ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor of MKU, Prof. Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, OFR, NPOM (Talba of Ilorin), was inducted and decorated into the prestigious Ilorin Emirate Hall of Fame in recognition of his enduring service, exemplary leadership, and immense contributions to education and national development.

While presenting the institutional award to the Vice-Chancellor of MKU, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, the National President of IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, described the University as “a pride of the Ilorin Emirate.” He explained that MKU was selected for the honour due to its growing impact, impressive service delivery, and its role in projecting Ilorin as a centre of learning.

Alhaji Abdulmalik, a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, noted that the University’s steady progress and unwavering commitment to quality education continue to enhance the image of the Ilorin Emirate both locally and internationally.

In his response, Prof. Jimoh expressed deep appreciation to the IEDPU for the honour, describing it as both encouraging and motivating. He assured the Union that the recognition would further inspire the University to intensify its efforts towards excellence in teaching, research, and community service.

He described MKU as the crowning achievement of the first Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Shaykh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adabiy, noting that although the revered scholar did not acquire Western education through a formal system, he emerged as a foremost advocate and promoter of quality formal education in Nigeria and beyond.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed MKU’s commitment to human development and societal progress, pledging that the University would continue to uphold the values and vision exemplified by Shaykh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adabiy for the benefit of the Ilorin Emirate, Nigeria, and humanity at large.
