This girl was not entirely wrong; I think she simply lacked the exposure to understand the situation. If you went through the same UBA GMAP programme she went through, you would know that participants are often taught to address colleagues by their first names. They may even use the GMD as an example and tell you that he is your colleague, so you can call him by his first name. But there is a difference between what you are taught in a corporate training environment and how things work culturally. This is Africa, and respect for hierarchy still matters.

She went ahead and addressed her chairman by his first name: β€œGood morning, Tony.” That was where she got it wrong. You hardly ever see someone casually addressing their superior by their first name, especially someone old enough to be their father. Even if he tells you to call him by his first name, sometimes your upbringing and sense of respect should make you reconsider. Her biggest mistake, in my opinion, was the lack of exposure and perhaps the desire to appear different and audacious, thinking it would earn her some favour.

During graduations like this, people sometimes get lucky, and how they conduct themselves during the ceremony can influence their eventual posting. I feel she was probably trying to stand out, but unfortunately, it backfired. The simple thing would have been to read the room and follow the format everyone else was following. Sometimes, you don't have to force being different; just understand the environment and go with the flow. This is Africa after all.

So many things to unpack here about the news of Sir Ogogo aka Taiwo Hassan having Stage 4 cancer.

But there are some things it would be good to correct from the daughter's words because I see some tweets saying Nigerian Doctors don't want to treat and give chemo..... ( PS. I am an independent party just criticizing the video and I have no links of medical care to the family)

1 " They don't want to treat my father again"
This is a dangerous statement and can set the tides against the medical team treating her Dad.
When patients have stage 4 cancer and chemo and or other therapies have been explored.

There is a form of care called
PALLIATIVE CARE.. which is an end of life care and care for terminal diseases because at the point of the disease you cannot treat it but you can manage associated symptoms and give the person a good quality of life before death.

Saying They don't want to treat my father makes it look like they are intentionally rejecting him and in context of recent happening the health sector, it can trigger an insurrection and put a bad label to health care workers.

IF YOU HAVE HERBS that treat cancer
Don't do this..
There are no herbs that will treat a stage 4 cancer.
These concoctions will end up damaging more organs and causing more complications.
You'd end up wasting money and causing more problems.

3 People need to understand that Stage 4 cancer means the cancer has left primary organ and gone to other sites.

Your Doctor knows what's best and it is good you work hand in hand with the team to give the best productivity

I do hope Ogogo's daughter and family sees this.
Wishing the family all the best throughout the trying times
