Unilorin biology education students', class '12

BEFORE ACCUSING US
I watch with dismayed yesterday night at News @ 10 of Channels TV lagos which broadcasted Abia State Government and parents accusing state teachers of inept in their duties. I was not boarded about such allegation from the state government but when the parents starting comparing the government own schools with the private schools, I begin furious concerning level of populace intelligent on educational system in Nigeria.

Let me take you down educational history of Nigeria: development from 80’s to present age
i. in 80’s, teaching was regarded as a noble profession while the teachers’ are well paid
ii. In 80’s, teachers are well equipped in term of educational materials likewise, the teachers’ always received in-house training {seminar}
iii. in 80’s, students of govt schools are the best all over the states in abroad as well. even though, the private one’s are not many then.

What is now wrong with our educational system of now, the answer is not far fetch; government ! politician !! Corruption !!!
i. Nowadays, teaching is no longer regard as noble profession but rather an End-to-mean. The govt are not helping the matter, by underfunding the educational sector. They keep on owning salaries of those who is to train the leaders of tomorrow.
ii. Nowadays, govt keep on employing non-graduate of education. How do they expect them to perform to standard like those in private schools.
iii. Lack of renovation for conducive learning in our schools. The structure and equipment hand over to govt from colonial master/missionaries schools are still in use without upgrade.

As they use to say, there is no cause without effect
Corrupt-politician! YES. Corrupt politician are the one causing deterioration in our educational sector of this country. They purposely want to wreck govt schools system so that, parents can patronize their private-own schools. This is not limited to secondary schools but also to our higher institution of learning. They device element of strike and underfunding to destroy our higher so that, parents can patronize their own private universities throughout the country. Or as it not occurs to you that our so called politician and leaders are the one establishing private universities. Thanks to NUC whose try to standardize the universities and thanks to university of Ilorin who didn’t make me to know the effect of strike.

Let me not digress from the issue, our govt{i mean politician} purposely want to destroy our primary and secondary educational sector in the country by underfunding; employing unqualified teachers in the name of politics; not equipping the science lab with apparatus and equipment; not renovating the structures for conducive learning; not paying the teachers’ salaries and other packages as at when due; no in-house training/workshop for teachers; no supervisor to monitor the activities of the teachers.

You may want to Question me that if all these requirement and procedure are met, will the teacher deliver as expected, YES!
We all know the level of educational system in Lagos State before Gov.Fashola administration, is not what to write home about. Gov.Fashola turns things around, the teachers that are employed without educational certificate were force to obtain PGD in education not only that, primary and secondary schools are equipped and building renovated to minimum standard. The teachers in the state are well closely supervised and monitored on regular basis. Today, Lagos state is the best in the country in term of structure, standard and performance.

This is not the only state, recently Osun state upgrade its primary and secondary schools; it distribute educational tablet to aid learning; feeding programme for students; enhanced teachers capacity; renovate schools to nearly model school of such is one primary school in Ife which cannot be distinguish from private school although is public school.

In all these, I conclude that the govt and parent should stop accusing finger at us {teachers}, provide us the necessary materials and enabling environment we will deliver

Going to SCHOOL is not what really important but getting the JOB

FIGHT IT
Many times when something seems too difficult to achieve,we decide it is"because it was never meant to be". It is true, that sometimes,good things come with a little effort. Still,sometimes, the difficulty you face is the proof that you are doing something right. Afterall, it is easier to give up then to keep fighting, it is easier to cheat, than to study and pass your exams. Can anyone say that it is not easier to sleep than to wake up at dawn every morning to get ready for work? It is even easier to offer "eye-service" than to actually do your job.
Short cut can be good but some shortcuts rob us of everything we should gain from an experience, a job, a boss or a challenge.
I need you to remember this: even though some good things come smoothly, some require a lot of work and when it gets hard or you face a setback, if discouragement comes and tries to make you give up on your goals........FIGHT IT

" i cant apply for such job because i dont have the required qualification"
This are some of the complain of most of our members, not knowing they have two{2} degrees in one{1} which give them advantage over others.
B.sc{Ed}~is a two degrees in one. The B.sc is a separate degree on it own while the "Ed" is a supplementary degree. Critically looking at it, the B.sc comes first which qualify you as a scientist while the "Ed" comes last which qualify you as a educator. You are both trained in the field; that is why, you did I.T in science and T.P in education.
So, you can apply for jobs in both field but when applying for jobs in area of science in your CV omit {Ed}.
Science jobs you can apply for are production-quality control officer, scientific officer, nutritionist etc
DONT LIMIT YOUR SELF!

Experience
Experience has elude many fresh graudate of their Dream jobs, thinking they have none.
Experience is what you Good at doing or have knowledge of. So, in one way or the other we have an experience in life even an imbecile has an experience.
As a graduate your experience start from; I.T, school observation, T.P, job you engage during long vacation in school and your NYSC yr. All these are experience that cummulate up to 3 to 4 yrs.
What employers want; is that the employee must be able to work under pressure, work in similar role and have work etiquette.
So, start applying for the jobs now.
Next time, i will talk about experience in a similar role, eventhough if you do not have such. Till then,
"remember experience can either be formal or informal"

Quite some month now after service year, what have being ur experience like?
While;some have married some have get employed while some are still search.
In whatever way!

Remember graduating is nt d end of it all, is jst anoda rat race! Remember wen u start to survived among ur peer in d primary days, remember wot u go thru for admission, remember how u fought for a CGPA. Remember wen u said NO to split.
Now as a graduating stds, remember is jst a RAT RACE! Wish u d best in life.
