Kwara Polytechnic Inaugurates Structure Renovated by Alumni
The Management of the Kwara State Polytechnic, has called on alumni of the institution to always remember to give back to their alma mater.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, made the call while inaugurating a lecture room renovated by 1996 set of the Accountancy Department of the institution.
Dr. Jimoh, who said he was overwhelmed by the bold step taken by the set, enjoined other alumni to collaborate with the Management of the institution in providing more meaningful projects for the institution.
Earlier, President of the 1996 set, Mr Tunde Olagunju, charged the students to take their studies seriously and strive to complement the gesture when their time comes.
Mr Olagunju, while explaining that his set was willing to do more for the institution, encouraged other departmental alumni to do same for their various departments.
He, therefore, called on the school Management and the students to make judicious use of the newly renovated structure.
In his remarks, the Registrar, Mr Kolawole 'Sheye Akande commended the Alumni and Advancement Officer of the Polytechnic for living up to expectations.
He prayed God to continue to support and provide for the alumni members.
Attention of the Polytechnic Authority has been drawn to a malicious post which is being circulated on some WhatsApp platforms insinuating that the Rector, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed is extorting students with insignificant dues.
The Management wishes to state categorically that the Polytechnic neither extort nor collect illegal fees from its students.
Please, note that collection of transcript is a normal practice in any higher institution of learning. Graduates are expected to have a document (academic transcript) containing the details of their academic performance while in school and this can be needed by them for several purposes, at any point in time. Thus, payment for transcript which was tagged "mischievous and extortion" in the post is the hand work of the enemies of the institution that want to soil the good image of the Rector and drag it in the mud.
Also, writing, defending and submission of project is one of the requirements for the award of both ND and HND in every Polytechnic across the country. The Management is only making the task easier by asking students to do it online and minimize physical interaction between them and their supervisors, which had hitherto being abused by some corrupt supervisors.
Please, note that we are in the 21st century where everything is being digitalized. Thus, our students must also be inclined with what is obtainable across the globe to be able to compete favourably with their counterparts.
The Rector and his team are working round the clock to achieve the aims and objectives of the Polytechnic's founding fathers and to restore its lost glory.
Therefore, the Polytechnic Management wishes to call on members of the public to always verify the authenticity of anything tagged with the Polytechnic name before circulating same.
Thank you.
