JAMB Postpones Activation of 2026 Original UTME Result Printing Portal

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has explained the reason behind the delay in activating the portal for the printing of the 2026 UTME Original Result Slips.



According to the Board, the printing portal has not yet been activated because it recently concluded the conduct of foreign examinations and is currently making arrangements for the mop-up examination for candidates who were unable to participate in the main UTME through no fault of theirs.



In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, candidates were urged to remain patient as necessary processes are still being finalized before the release of the slips.



JAMB emphasized that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is a ranking examination, noting that the Original Result Slip contains candidates’ national ranking and related performance details. Consequently, the Board stated that all pending processes must be completed before the slips can be made available for printing.



The Board assured candidates that once all necessary adjustments and procedures are concluded, the portal will be activated promptly and the public will be officially informed.



The development comes amid growing anticipation among admission seekers, as the Original Result Slip remains one of the key documents required for Post-UTME registration, screening exercises, and admission processing across tertiary institutions nationwide.

JAMB activates change of institution portal, begins printing of original UTME result slips

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says candidates seeking to change their institution or course selection can now begin the process at approved computer-based test (CBT) centres nationwide.

Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

The examination body advised applicants intending to make adjustments to their preferred institutions or programmes to visit any accredited CBT centre for the exercise.

"Candidates wishing to change their institution or programme of choice may now proceed to do so visiting any of the Board’s approved CBT," the statement reads.

"Applicants are advised to visit any accredited CBT centre to effect the changes.

JAMB also announced that the printing of the original 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result slip will commence on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Generate Remita Code for online payment OR Print out Payment Slip and proceed to any Bank with Remita Platform and make payment of N2,000.00 only.

Obtain a Remita Receipt showing an Access Code from the Bank Teller confirming the payment.

Proceed online again and login with your JAMB Registration Numbers and confirm the payment.

Complete the Form online as requested.

Proceed to the Admissions Office to submit the documents – photocopy of JAMB Slip, Birth Certificate/Age Declaration, O’Level Examination Results (WASSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB), A’Level/Diploma/NCE/JUPEB/IJMB and Degree Results, showing CGPA as applicable. Alternatively, the requested documents can be mailed by courier to: The Admissions Officer, University of Port Harcourt, Choba, P.M.B. 5323, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

NOTE:

Inconsistency in name is not acceptable to the University and may lead to disqualification of affected candidates.

Candidates’ names on their O’Level and A’Level Results, JAMB ResultSlips and other registration documents must be the same.

Candidates must be sixteen (16) years of age or above by September 2026, to be eligible for the Admission.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

A. UTME CANDIDATES

(i.) Applicants are required to have a minimum score of 150 (as approved by JAMB) in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

(ii.) Applicants must also obtain a minimum of five credit passes at not more than two sittings (at one sitting for MBBS) in WAEC (SSCE)/NECO (SSCE) or NABTEB. These should include English Language, Mathematics and any three other subjects relevant to the proposed course of study.

B. DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES

i. DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES INTO 200 LEVEL

As for A (ii.) above, but with 2 passes at either A Level, IJMB or JUPEB examinations. Holders of ND, NCE, or ATS results are eligible for admission to relevant disciplines. Candidates are also expected to have purchased the Direct Entry form of JAMB for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) Direct Entry candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, shall hold at least two A Level passes in Biology/Zoology and any one of Chemistry or Physics; OR the Registered Nursing Certificate (RN) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria; OR B.Sc. degree (with at least Second Class Lower) in any of the Biological and Health Sciences.

2. Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS) Direct Entry candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, hold at least two A Level passes in Biology/Zoology and any one of Chemistry or Physics; Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN); B.Sc. degree with at least Second Class Lower in any of the Biological Sciences.

3. Candidates applying for the Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) programmes shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, hold at least two A Level passes, including Mathematics and Physics, OR National Diploma (Upper Credit) in Engineering.

4. Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Direct Entry candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, have obtained two papers at Principal or Advanced level in HSC, GCE, IJMB or JUPEB; OR an acceptable bachelor’s degree. A minimum of WAEC SSCE/NECO SSCE or GCE O Level credit pass in Literature in English is mandatory for all intending candidates.

ii. DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES INTO 300 LEVEL

In addition to A (ii.) above, candidates should be holders of HND in their respective fields of study. HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics is acceptable for B.Sc. Computer Science. HND in Computer Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering is acceptable for B.Eng. Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. HND in Civil Engineering is acceptable for B.Eng. Civil Engineering.

Holders of professional certificates such as ACCA, ACIB, ACIS, ACIN and ACIT are eligible for admission into Accounting and Business Administration.

The Lagos State University recorded the highest number of first-choice applications in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), according to figures released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The statistics were presented during JAMB’s ongoing policy meeting held in Abuja on Monday.

LASU attracted 84,426 applications, accounting for 3.76 per cent of total submissions made by candidates across the country.

The University of Lagos followed with 78,240 applications, while Obafemi Awolowo University secured third position after recording 60,370 applications.

University of Ibadan ranked fourth with 58,895 applications, ahead of the University of Benin, which received 55,425 applications.

Nnamdi Azikiwe University placed sixth with 54,085 applications, while the University of Ilorin recorded 52,514 applications to occupy seventh position.

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, posted 51,660 applications, while Federal University Oye-Ekiti and the University of Port Harcourt completed the top 10 with 48,272 and 48,199 applications respectively.

The data also indicated changing patterns in candidates’ choices over recent admission cycles.

LASU, which currently leads the ranking, did not appear among the top 10 preferred institutions in some previous years.

UNILAG maintained a steady presence near the top positions, while UNILORIN, OAU, UI and FUOYE continued to record strong application numbers across multiple admission exercises.

JAMB also noted that several universities that dominated earlier rankings dropped in the 2026 list, reflecting shifting preferences among UTME candidates.
