UNDERAGE CANDIDATES: JAMB TO LIMIT PHYSICAL INTERACTIONS WITH APPLICANT

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to automate its services to reduce physical contact with underage candidates, as part of measures to prevent extortion and improve service delivery, according to JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.
The UTME board is considering limiting physical contact with underage candidates to prevent extortion and exploitation. In the future, interactions will be online, with calls recorded for quality control. A team is investigating reports of unwholesome practices.
Students accusing JAMB officials and CBT centers of extortion for'regularisation' or services should provide credible evidence, as found culpable staff will face legal repercussions.
Prof. Oloyede praised the board's staff for their honesty, but urged for the identification and handling of any bad eggs. In March, a businesswoman filed a N100m suit against JAMB and three others over alleged inappropriate text messages sent to her and her 15-year-old daughter. On January 29, JAMB arrested registration officers of a Computer-Based Test Centre.
