*SU FRESHERS' CUP: PURPLE REPUBLIC DISPLAYED ROYALTY!!! ⚽🔥🔥*

The Inaugural Edition of the SU Freshers' Cup kickstarted today which saw the Faculty of Social Sciences squared up against the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences at the Maracana 2.

The referee blast the whistle, which signifies the start of the match a few minutes after 11 am and the ball began rolling.

Coach Umar led boys dominated the possession and created a couple of chances in the opening 10 minutes of the match but all efforts were neutralized by the BCS defense.

In the 15th minute of the game, Cielo from Social Work opened the scoring from a rebound after the BCS goalkeeper saved the initial shot.

Basic Clinical Sciences tried getting the equalizer but their spirits were dented when Isaac (Psychology) fired from a close range after a through pass from Lateef (Social Work) to double the lead for the Purple Republic in the 23rd minute

Both teams played out the first half with Faculty of Social Sciences leading 2-nil. The second half saw less action as Isaac (Psychology) who scored the first goal scored another goal, to double his tally and extend the lead for the Faculty of Social Sciences in the 74th minute.

This wonderful strike further dented the already dampened spirits of the Basic Clinical Sciences Faculty as it sealed the win for Social Sciences.

Before the final whistle, Clinical Sciences fans who came to cheer for their team were heard pleading for mercy from Social Sciences to stop scoring.

As we all know Purple Republic stands for Faculty of Social Sciences and purple signifies royalty, the Purple Republic boys did as expected by showing their royalty on the field of play...... It's not by mouth!!!

The boys' impressive 3:0 win means they're through to the Next rounds and the next opponent would be decided after the draw.

We implore all Fosssaites to troop out in
numbers to support this team in the next match.
