Adeleke and PDP Should Resign: Osun Is Not Without Leadership
While visionary leadership across all of Nigeria does its very best to attract huge foreign investments and spur local development, Osun Governor Adeleke's state can be located nowhere else. Just six states and the FCT managed to attract any foreign capital, it seems, according to recently released Q1 2025 statistics. Lagos got $2.56 billion, Ogun and Oyo got over $7 million, tiny Ekiti got $4,250. Osun, though? Nothing. Zero dollars. Zero cents. Zero figures. Zero investments. And silence, and deafening silence, it seems, speaks louder than any Osun government offered rationalising comment.
This is the same state where it was considered wise according to its government to spend ₦3.1 billion on foreign travels and training in six months. A government that fails to attract a single investor from all its foreign travels should be questioned, not praised. Had the Labour leader, Adeleke, and its PDP-led government been working, as it boasted, on behalf of its people, where were the dividends? What concrete accomplishments have all the foreign travels, all the food and transport allowances, and sitting allowances brought? The answer is simple: nothing from the people.
While some establish an enabler climate to lure investors, Osun governs by feasting.' Purposeless government, aimless travels, and expenditures without a budget have been perfected to an art form by the government of Adeleke. Latest statistics confirm it Osun falls behind and taxpayers foot the bill for unemployment, battered schools, unhealthy hospitals, and dry taps.
Worst of all, however, is what's absent: youth consciousness. Most of the same youth worst damaged by unemployment and infrastructure decay have become apologists to this fraud on the net, party allegiance and click journalism numbing them. Osun youths must awaken, however, because if you don't struggle against this fraud, you're its victim.
The 2026 election should be an election of performance, not popularity. Osun should be led by performers who would bring development, not use state funds to embark on foreign excursions. Adeleke and the PDP have had their turn. They have failed miserably. It's time to retire them from office. Osun's future should no longer be risked on the altar of political showmanship.
