St Margaret's School, Oke-Ooye, Ilesa, as popularly known today is an offshoot of the Ijesa Anglican Girls' School, founded by the Ijesa District Church Council of the Anglican Communion, in 1948 on the initiative of Ven. It started as a Primary School for girls on the premises of St John's School, Iloro with Mrs C. The School metamorphosised into a Secondary Modern School named, Anglican Modern S

chool, Oke-Ooye, Ilesa and later Anglican Girls Secondary School, Ilesa as a result of its good performances in External Examinations. In 1951, the Girls school moved to its present site when it rose from the status of a Modern School. By January, 1953, the Secondary School arm was approved and it took off under the leadership of the School first Principal, Prof. (Mrs) Adetowun Ogunsheye (Nee Banjo) with two teachers, and with initial populations of 30 girls-
At the prize-giving ceremony of the school on 11th December, 1959, the name of the school was officially changed from Anglican Girls Secondary Grammar School and christened ST MARGARET'S SCHOOL.
