THE LAST OPERATION_ A PATH TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT💔

I heard many stories today at the prison yard, but one still lingers in my mind till this moment. The inmate didn't tell us the story directly because he had already told the first group, which my sister was a part of, and she was the one who narrated it to me.

The inmate is from Offa, Kwara state and worked as a vulcanizer. He wasn't making enough money and was planning to get married. One of his friends consistently gave him money, amounts around 30,000 naira or more. He asked his friend to show him how he acquired the money. According to the friend, stealing was the way. So, they started stealing together. After a long period, he decided to quit. However, his friend called him again for an operation in Ife. He told himself, 'This is going to be my last operation.'

On the morning of the scheduled date, while he was preparing to leave, his mother pleaded with him not to go out. She begged him, doing everything she could. He sneaked out. On his way, he forgot his phone and had to go back to retrieve it. The bus that was supposed to carry him from Offa had already left, so he took another one.

After the operation, in the night, as they were preparing to return to Offa, the police surrounded them. All of these events happened in 2020. He has been in the correctional facility since then. The court sat on his case last Friday and gave him a life imprisonment sentence.
