Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Rain Semester at the United Nations African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (UN-ARCSSTEE), in collaboration with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, in the following

🎓 M.Sc. Disaster Monitoring & Management

🎓 M.Sc. Space Population Studies

These programmes are designed to support:

- Evidence-based urban planning

- Climate and disaster resilience

- Population intelligence for development policy

- Geospatial decision support systems

In an era of climate risk, rapid urbanization, and security challenges, strategic space-based analytics is essential for national and regional development.

🚀 UN-ARCSSTE-E at the 2025 Nigerian Space Symposium!

UN-ARCSSTE-E proudly participated in the 2025 Nigerian Space Symposium at Mountain Top University, where experts, students, and industry leaders came together to discuss “The Future of Space, AI & Data in Nigeria.”

🚀 UN-ARCSSTE-E Sparks Interest in Space Science at World Science Day 2025!

UN-ARCSSTE-E joined students, teachers, and science lovers in Osun State to celebrate World Science Day 2025 with the theme “Trust, Transformation and Tomorrow: The Science We Need for 2050.”

World Space Week 2025 celebrated in grand style! 🌌

The African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE-E) joined the rest of the world to mark World Space Week 2025, themed “Living in Space.”
It was an inspiring and fun-filled event held at our Space Museum, Obafemi Awolowo University Campus, Ile-Ife, with over 120 students and teachers from 23 schools participating.

Students enjoyed exciting presentations from the Space outreach Division led by Dr Samuel Anih, who shared insights on what it’s like to live and work in space. The interactive quiz session, school drama on “Living in Space,” and mock-up satellite construction made the day unforgettable! 🎭🛰️

Awards were presented to top schools for their creativity and participation:
🥇 Progress Comprehensive High School, Modakeke
🥈 Islamic College, Osogbo
🥉 Love and Joy Secondary School, Ilesha

The 25th PGD Graduation Ceremony of UN-ARCSSTE-E, held on September 3, 2025, marked a milestone in building Africa’s space science capacity. The event brought together leaders in academia, government, and the space science community to celebrate the achievements of its graduating class. Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Momoh Yusuf, representing the Director-General of National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and Prof. Ilesanmi, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, lauded the Centre’s impact on innovation and capacity building in space science and technology. Delivering the keynote address titled, "‘Go out there and make a difference”, the guest speaker, Dr. Omowumi Alabi urged the graduands to positively influence lives through their skills. The highpoint of the event was the Awards ceremony where exceptional students were honoured in various fields like Remote Sensing, Satellite Meteorology, and Space Law, with special recognition for outstanding projects.
