*OUR DEAR PARENTS*
👫👫👫👫👫👫👫👫
This is worth sharing.
*Primary school education used to be 7 years, Then 6years. At a point in time, due to peer and parental influence it became 5 years* against government's policies.
These days parents will be struggling for the child to be in primary 1 by 4 years old. By 8 years the child would have completed primary 4 expecting to proceed to primary 5 . *This same parent will now try to dodge primary 5*.
Some will even insist on double promotion from primary 3 to primary 5 thereby cutting a year off. *Not caring about the mental growth of the child*. The parent will *insist that the child proceed to Jss1*.
*At this point the teachers must perform magic* so that the years missed will not affect the child *otherwise the game of changing schools begins*. Forgetting that the *child has not gone through the proper stages* of development intellectually.
Then this child will be influenced through college too.
*When this child gets to JSS 2 at 10 years old the parent will insist the child sits for BECE* or junior NECO. By 11 or 12 he will be in SS 1.
*When he gets to SS 2 he will be made to sit for WAEC, NECO and JAMB*. By this time the poor *child is either 12 or 13* .At worst 14.
The child will sit for these exams and *probably pass by influence too*.
He will *get into the University at age 14 or less*. When he gets there, we would have succeeded in influencing the speed of his education by cutting corners, *but have we succeeded in influencing his mental and psychological growth?*
NO.
This poor kid is now an under- graduate, surrounded by worldly wisdom and people from different walks of life. He is thrown into a life he is not ready for. He thinks he is an adult. He becomes a prey to those who want to take advantage of his naivety.
*Most of the time he will find himself lieing about his age so that he can belong*.
He starts keeping secrets from parents. *The parents will think he is still the little boy they assume he is*.
Have we noticed that *most kids that fall into these categories start carrying-over courses or absconding from lectures and more*. Not because they are not intellectually good often times.
They have not realised who they are, *what they really want, ability to handle responsibilities*, situations and so on .
*The accepted age of childhood ends at 15. By 16 the mentality starts to change to that of an adolescent. By 18 he is mentally ready to be responsible for his actions*.
By 21 he has come of age and finally, fully an adult. His reasoning and thinking is matured. That is the right age to graduate under normal circumstances.
He finishes service by 22 or 23 and is ready to face the world. On the other hand he graduates at 18, if the world have not robbed him of his person and in deep confusion in his mind.
He finishes the National Youth Service at 19. Most parents who have the means will tell him to proceed for Masters (This is only 10-20%). But if they can't afford it, this poor child is neither here nor there, and the employment markets are not meant for babies.
Frustration sets in, and many things could go wrong *At this point we as parents start blaming the Government and the system we have cut corners against*.
To arrive at educational, policies, lots of intellectuals put their heads together and decide what is best. Educationists, psychologists, and so on are part of these decision making, borrowing leaves from developed countries.
Parents, especially the new generation parents are mostly influenced by peer pressure. So and so's kid graduated at so and so age, mine must either beat it or do same, even if the child is not ready.
*If the school refuses to cut corners, they change the school and register elsewhere*. With the type of competition and scampering for kids by schools, especially with no proper monitor of standards and other things, especially in private schools, we find ourselves selling our birthrights for unforseen (even at that) morsels of porridges.
Dear parents, *A word they say, is enough for the wise*.
1. Allow your kids to grow, develop and find themselves.
2. Do not force them into adulthood when they are not yet adults.
3. Do not let them think they are what they are not yet.
The world is filled with lots of wolves. These kids need to face them when they can, not before.
*We pray that our kids will not fall victims* ,
But then *we should not push them too hard*.
May God provide for us as we build up our kids. *We as parents shall reap the fruit of our labours*.
Remember *every child has his own personality* . Help them to find it, build on it and not confuse them along the way. *God help all parents and bless them*.
At least to the glory of God, I am privileged to know *that a child in the UK cannot start Nursery School until he is 4 Years*.
Before then, parents must make alternative arrangements for their kids below that age. Corners are not cut, yet they excel. Because they are more concerned about the mental growth of the child.
*If your child is a genius, help him to build on it and find himself. Don't get him lost halfway*.

THE PLEA OF UNIVERSITY LECTURERS TO TEACHERS IN PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!!
Dear secondary school teachers and school owners, please, help the students and the public by ensuring that students in your school write examinations by themselves and merit the grades they brandish on their SSCE results.
We are tired of seeing students with A1 in Mathematics but cannot resolve the smallest of fractions. A student with distinctions in Physics and chemistry but knows next to nothing about chemical reactions or energy conversion. Students with distinctions in Literature, Government, and CRS, yet blank on the differences between Drama and Prose Fiction, the forms of Government, and the significance of Religious stories.
I had to ask some year 1 students to look for a tutorial teacher to help them with JS 3 and SS1 mathematics recently. The whole 16 of them in my Engineering class with excellent SSCE results are visibly confused at the sight of any arithmetic work. Their last semester's performance betrayed the several A1s and B3s on the WAEC they carry about.
These students you help acquire grades they can't defend are usually frustrated in the ivory tower. Save them a voyage of pain and regrets in the future by ensuring they are well tutored and allowed to prepare and write their examinations unaided.

*An important message for all those who are in teaching profession*
Dear Teachers, Please read.....
Teachers have a very unique problem with regard to appetite and satiety. On an average, they are speaking loudly for 4-5 hours in addition to the regular daily conversations. Unfortunately, the calories that they burn with speaking do not help in weight management and their fitness levels.
The practical problems:
1. They build up a big appetite because of the constant talking.
2. They develop wind or gas in their stomachs. The wind makes it difficult for them to eat even though they are hungry.
3. Eating on time may not be always possible because they have back to back classes apart from the routine administrative work.
4. Most teachers forget to drink water as they go to different classes and do not carry water bottles with them.
What are the health problems they face?
1. Acidity issues due to the gas formation and inability to eat.
2. Acid reflux which leaves them with a dry cough or a sore throat.
3. Water retention and weight gain due to inadequate water consumption.
4. Skin problems due to less water consumption.
5. Hormonal imbalance due to inadequate water consumption leading to weight gain.
What can you do?
1. As difficult as it may sound, carry a small bottle of water and a small snack like biscuits with you at all times. The chances of you drinking water when it is readily available are much higher.
2. Stay sufficiently hydrated throughout the day. Aim for a minimum of 1 litre of water during work hours.
3. Do a plain water gargle once in the morning and once before bedtime. If you tend to have dry cough or acid reflux frequently, use saunf water for gargling. Saunf or fennel seeds are traditionally used in India to reduce the mouth acidity after a meal. The seeds can be dropped into a glass of water, allowed to stand for 5 mins and then strained. The clear water can be used as a gargle.
4. Eat every 2 hours. You can either split up your lunch into 2 packets or just eat half your lunch as a mid morning snack.
5. Always eat biscuits along with the coffee or tea during your breaks. The biscuits soak up the beverage and do not allow acid reflux.
If you are in the teaching profession, please understand that there will be fewer of you as the years go by. It takes a big heart to be in this profession. For you, you could be just a teacher but to your students you are their hero! Please take care of your health.
Please forward this to other teachers

BUT DON'T BE FLUSTERED!
From published information by WAEC, JAMB, NYSC, MEDICAL SCHOOLS, NIGERIA LAW SCHOOL, THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, EXTERNAL UNIVERSITIES ENTRANCE EXAMINATION BOARDS, etc, no student from these students ever came *FIRST in WASCE or JAMB!*
No student from these schools has ever *made first class in their first degree courses.*
No student from these schools have *put Nigeria in academic map through excellence in external university qualifying examinations.*
So dear parents, don't kill yourself and your children because of exorbitant school fees.
Attendance in these fancy schools is no guarantee that your child will be an academic star.
Professors Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Philip Emeagwali, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dr. Dora Akuyili, didn't attend 7-star hotels parading as schools!
Parents, please know and maintain your finances for godly pursuits by limiting your quest for costly, fanciful schools.
Success in life is not about the school your children attend.
The above schools are not on the academic cutting edge - as at today!
Be wise!
Stay alive!.
