Online Teaching Is Not a Shortcut — It’s a Profession
In recent years, online teaching has become increasingly popular. Everywhere you turn, new online classes are emerging — mathematics, reading, coding, phonics, and more. The digital age has made it possible for anyone with a device and internet access to set up a virtual classroom.
This development is not a bad thing. In fact, online education has opened doors to learning opportunities that were once unimaginable.
However, there is a growing concern that deserves honest conversation.
Many people are rushing into online teaching without ever having stood in front of a real classroom. Some have never managed a group of learners face-to-face. Yet, they step into the online space assuming that teaching through a screen is easier or simply a business opportunity.
The truth is quite different.
Effective online teaching is not just about knowing a subject or sharing worksheets on a screen. It requires deep teaching skills, classroom management, learner engagement, patience, empathy, adaptability, and the ability to recognize when a child psychology even when the microphone is muted and the camera is off.
These are not skills that appear overnight. They are cultivated over time through real classroom experience; through years of working with different learners, handling challenges, adjusting teaching strategies, and learning what truly helps children understand.
Technology can enhance teaching, but it cannot replace the professional skills of a trained and experienced educator.
Online teaching is not a shortcut into education. If anything, it demands even greater intentionality and preparation than physical classrooms. Without the right foundation, online lessons easily become passive sessions where real learning is limited and frustrated
As educators, we must remember that teaching is a profession built on competence, character, and commitment — not just convenience.
The future of education will certainly

The New Nigerian Curriculum: A Call for Balance and Mastery
The recent changes to the Nigerian curriculum have sparked concerns about the impact on the country's education system. At Chosen Treasureland Academy, we've been following these developments with interest, and we'd like to share our thoughts on the matter.
Previously the curriculum's emphasis on multiple subjects for primary school children has always been a thing of concern. Fifteen subjects is excessive and unnecessary, and one wonders if this approach will truly benefit the students. Teachers also running a dilly dally race to ensure efficiency on their part is draining.bAre we trying to create Renaissance men and women or merely spreading ourselves too thin? Mastery of a few subjects seems more valuable than superficial knowledge of many.
At Treasureland Academy, we've always taken a different approach. We focus on providing a well-rounded education that emphasizes mastery and understanding. Our approach is centered on equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, rather than merely following trends.
We appreciate the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Education and policymakers in shaping the country's education system in this regard. The number of subjects are very minimal and workable too. However, we believe that in subsequent times, other areas that need adjustments in the system will be well attended to. Adopting foreign educational systems without considering Nigeria's unique cultural heritage may not yield the desired results.
As an institution, we've always prioritized providing a balanced education that incorporates our cultural values. We believe that this approach will enable our students to stand unique and relevant in the global space while remaining rooted in their heritage.
At Treasureland Academy, we're committed to doing what's right for our students. We'll continue to provide a high-quality education that focuses on mastery, understanding, and cultural
