THE NEED FOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT IN OUR DAILY LIFE

Some years ago, when I joined Selfa Nig Ltd, I had no idea what ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS) is about. My Boss explained what the company is about, the services they render & what QM entails. He explained that everybody, including the local market trader, needs calibration. I then realize when it comes to quality, every business needs QMS because it does not matter the size of the business, location, nature, industry (it can be a restaurant, consultancy, manufacturing company, government, financial entity, etc.) of the business.
ISO 9001 is NOT a standard for products nor does it define product quality. It is a process-based standard to control your processes.
After this Eye-opener i started purchasing products that were ISO 9001 certified because this means the company has met the requirements, which also defines all the QMS.
You see, ISO 9001 evaluates whether the:
* Quality Management System is appropriate and effective, while forcing you to identify and implement improvements.
* Continuous improvement assures your customers benefit by receiving products/services that meet the requirement, and that you deliver consistent performance.
* It boosts your customer base and their confidence in you. Internally, the company will profit from increased jobs satisfaction, reduced scrap and increase job efficiency.

Most people think QMS is only directed when you relate to the food sector and manufacturing, but alas even in construction, QMS is just as important....

Like many sectors, construction has been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. This has provided an opportunity to look at construction quality management and how organisations need to change the way they work amid social distancing and the continued risk of the virus - not to mention the reduced capacity or operations of their supply chain.
