The problem is not the Physics Professor they are accusing of extorting students but those who wrote and signed this letter.

From testimonies of EBSU past and present students, they said the Professor who's being accused is the best lecturer they ever had. I have been reading comments and posts across social media and majority of students have positive things to say about the professor.

In addition, the professor is the current Head of Department. If you truly understand the political spectrum of various institutions in Nigeria — particularly universities — you will understand that this might not be far from power tussle and conspiracy to destroy the reputation he has built for years. This abnormality has turned normal in Bongo universities.

So many olodos masquerading as professors in Bongo universities. If you don't comply with their madness or join their clique, you are in for long drive. As a HOD, they'd fight you. As a progressive scholar, they'd fight. I remember how they held and delayed professor Nwadike's promotion for 11 years. They made sure professor Anasiudu wasn't conferred professor until he retired. It was years after his retirement he was conferred and his professorship backdated for over 20 years. He told me: "they thought I was going to die."

Bongo university politics is deadlier than mainstream national politics.

I am not making cases for the said Professor Umahi. However, reading from students of EBSU; knowing what has happened to others close to me in various institutions; and reading through this letter, I can attest that this is a cooked up allegation from a pit of hEll.

They should thoroughly investigate the writer of this letter and who signed it before thinking of querying the professor they are accusing.

But, who signed this?

Oh, I remember that these people are all politically appointed. APC professors everywhere. They feed on cheap blackmail.

These are people who make some of our youth believe that "school na scam."

Alausa, Ribadu, Oloyede, others to lead Debate on Nigeria’s Paper Qualification Obsession at EWAN Summit

The Education Writers Association of Nigeria (EWAN) will on Thursday, November 27, convene its 2025 annual summit to examine Nigeria’s longstanding obsession with paper qualifications and the integrity of public examinations, with a special focus on whether Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) offers a sustainable solution.

The summit, now in its sixth edition, will be held at the Julius Berger Auditorium, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, with the theme: “Nigeria’s Obsession with Paper Qualification and Integrity of Public Examinations: Is TVET the Way Forward?”

In a statement issued on Thursday, EWAN said the event aims to spark a national conversation on shifting the country’s priority from degree-based certification to skills acquisition and competency-driven education.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, is expected to deliver the keynote address, where he will outline government efforts on strengthening TVET and highlight the challenges confronting Nigeria’s examination system.

To critique the minister’s presentation are heads of key public examination bodies, including the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede; the Head of the Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Dr. Amos Dangut; and the Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi.
