Every admission season, thousands of candidates log into their JAMB CAPS portal hoping to see good news, only to find "Not Admitted" staring back at them. If this is you, don't panic. This simply means no institution has yet recommended or offered you admission through CAPS at this point. Below are five common reasons this happens, and what you can do about each one.

𝟭. 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮
Your bio-data, O'level results, or UTME details may not fully match what is on your JAMB profile. Even a small discrepancy in name spelling, date of birth, or exam numbers can cause a mismatch and stall your admission process. Always double-check that your details are consistent across JAMB, WAEC/NECO, and your institution's portal.

𝟮. 𝗪𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗱 𝗢'𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁
Institutions require specific O'level subject combinations with credit passes, usually at not more than two sittings. If your results don't meet the minimum requirement for your chosen course, or if you uploaded the wrong result, your admission cannot be processed until this is corrected.

𝟯. 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗝𝗔𝗠𝗕 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲
Every course and institution has a cut-off mark. If your UTME score falls below what your chosen institution or department requires for that session, you will not be recommended for admission, no matter how strong your other qualifications are. Consider checking your institution's specific cut-off and, if needed, explore other institutions where your score qualifies.

𝟰. 𝗪𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Now Offers ND Law as NBTE Accredits 7 New Programmes

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted accreditation to seven new programmes at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa (AOPE), expanding the institution’s academic offerings for prospective students.

The accreditation followed an assessment visit conducted at the Polytechnic from July 29 to 31, 2026, and further strengthens the institution’s capacity to provide technical, professional and industry-focused education.

Among the newly accredited programmes is National Diploma (ND) Law, alongside ND Local Government and Development Studies, ND Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering, ND Geological Technology, ND Criminology, Legal and Security Studies, HND Architectural Technology, and HND Strategic Communication and Media Studies.

The NBTE also re-accredited five existing programmes, including ND Statistics and HND Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology and Biochemistry), among others.

The development provides prospective students with additional programme options as they consider institutions for their future academic pursuits.

HOW TO CALCULATE UNILAG POST UTME AGGREGATE

To calculate Unilag POST UTME aggregate, have the following in mind that:

JAMB Weighs 50%
Olevel weighs 20%
Post utme weighs 30%

*JAMB* : To get the 50% you have to divide your jamb score by 8. Whatever you get is over 50. For example, you scored 240 in jamb, divide it by 8 which gives you 30/50

240/8 = 30

*OLEVEL*: In getting the 20%. You have to take note of the five subjects required for your course in your waec or Neco.

For example if you intend to study Medicine and Surgery, the basic five subjects are: Maths, English, physics, chemistry and biology. Imagine having all A1 in your subjects, that is 20/20

Take note of the following

A1 = 4.0
B2 = 3.6
B3 = 3.2
C4 = 2.8
C5 = 2.4
C6 = 2.0

Know that to be considered for admission you must have a minimum of c6 in your olevel in the necessary subject.

》 Also note that Maths and English are also compulsory, a minimum of c6 is required.

*POST UTME*: 30%

When you write the post utme the post utme score is always over 30.

Imagine you scored 27 in post utme, that's 27/30

OGITECH Records Massive Turnout as 2026/2027 Admission Screening Begins

The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has officially commenced its 2026/2027 admission screening exercise, with hundreds of prospective students turning out for the verification process as the institution begins preparations for the new academic session.

The screening exercise attracted candidates seeking admission into the Polytechnic's National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, reflecting the growing interest in OGITECH's accredited academic offerings.

Speaking on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Oluyemi Odutola, said the screening exercise was designed to ensure that all prospective students meet the admission requirements approved by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

He explained that candidates are being verified to confirm their registration on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and to ensure they possess the correct subject combinations required for their chosen courses.

Dr. Odutola also encouraged UTME candidates who are still seeking admission to take advantage of available opportunities by applying for the institution's newly approved programmes accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

According to him, the newly introduced National Diploma programmes include Crime Management, Office Technology and Management, and Mechatronics Engineering Technology. The Polytechnic has also expanded its Higher National Diploma offerings with programmes in Civil Engineering Technology and Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology (Power and Machines Option), alongside its existing accredited courses.

Providing further updates, the Admissions Officer, Mr. Olujimi Oshunmakinde, disclosed that the screening exercise would continue on August 7, 2026, to accommodate more applicants.

He explained that the details of successful candidates would be forwarded to JAMB
