ILU LE: Food insecurity In Nigeria
By Samuel Omotere
‘Ilu le’ is a term in the language of the Yoruba ethnic group, Africa, which means, “The country/City is experiencing hardship”, this is the giant of Africa reality, In case you observe weight loss. The economic situation in Nigeria, a country in West-Africa with one of the largest populations of youth in the world, is terrible presently and inflicting pains on the citizens. The exchange rate for dollars and pounds has skyrocketed, which brought about the hike in food prices.
A larger percentage of children, youths, and elderly people are currently hungry, as food items are expensive, which can only be afforded by people with higher income. The minimum wage for Nigeria as at the time of filing this report is Thirty Thousand Naira Only (N 30,000), and there are some employees who are not earning up to that.
I opine that the class position in Nigeria has been restructured, we only have the Lower-Class and Higher-Class, the Middle-Class has been relegated by the current economy of the country. Every citizen is lamenting over the hunger epidemic because food products are no longer affordable by the masses.
Nigeria, known for epileptic power supply, but a fountain of agriculture is now suffering from food crisis, which is indeed an irony. According to the FAO, agriculture remains the foundation of the Nigerian economy, providing livelihoods for most Nigerians and generating millions of jobs. Most individuals and families find it difficult to fend for themselves, amidst the insecurity in the country.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Abuja earlier stated in November 2023, that In 2024, Nigeria is expected to see about 26.5 million people grappling with high levels of food insecurity, as disclosed by the Government of Nigeria...Read more here https://naijashowbizblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/ilu-le-food-insecurity-caused-by.html

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE
ASUU NEC concluded that government has failed to satisfactorily address all the issues raised in the 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement and subsequent MoUs and MoAs. However, considering the ongoing intervention and consultation efforts, NEC resolved to review the situation at a later date with a view to deciding on the next line of action.
In conclusion, there is no more strike. However, Strike can come like a thief at night, we pray FG rapidly fulfill her promises on time

HUMAN ORDEAL: THE JOURNEY OF WEIGHT LOSS AND WEIGHT GAIN
Vote OMOTERE As SUG General Secretary
The pressure on all humans is just too much, from our standard of living to our body physique. The fact that one is skinny doesn't mean he or she is hungry or don't feed well, stop saying gibberish all in the name of communicating. Let's stop putting unnecessary pressure on people because they're too fat, you are hurting them psychologically but they might fake a smile, the truth is most of them feel bad and want to get rid of that shameful stature. Everyone of us are guilty of this allegation,if an individual is slim you deny such person of opportunities or roles and you think that isn't an attempted murder?
Learn to always say words of comfort to people who aren't pleased with their body shape, if he/she complains of slim muscle or big stomach, remind him/her of alot of people who are spending millions of naira just to be like them.
The reason why most entrepreneurs and influencers on social media venture into business like sales of weightloss tea, weight gain drugs, flat tommy herbals and lots more is because they have studied the market, their prospective clients are depressed and not contented with who they're. It is okay to look fit but you shouldn't go through pains because you want to satisfy your urge and people's taste. Despite several campaigns against body shaming by foundations and top models in our society, most of us have remained adamant in dumping this habit into the trash bin. Instead of splashing huge amount of money on aphrodisiac and surgery to perfect somethings your creator forgot to put in order, donate it to an orphanage home and you shall be blessed in multiple folds.
Vote OMOTERE As SUG General Secretary
Some wake up at the middle of the night to weep over their body shape because they're too fat while some lament of being too skinny with scanty flesh to cover their bones. There is a Yoruba saying that goes thus "Eni lori oni fila", even the one that created us knows we can never be satisfied. While others try to make fun of your body shape, try to switch the conversation if you know you can no longer bear it. Every morning, go to the front of a mirror and recite this aloud "I am bold, strong, beautiful and I have the perfect body structure ever, it took time before I was made this way. I won't let the pressure from the blind society disfigure me because I am what alot of youths are splashing millions to be like. I am lucky to be fat/slim". It's a brand new day, I won't let my body shape haunt me"
The same people that made fun of you before you took "Weight loss products" as an alternative, will still complain that you are becoming lean and you need to do something to regain that shape. This also goes to those who embark on weight gain journey and end up compared with a dead calf by strangers. Cheer up! We are in this together, you are okay the way you are, anyone who isn't satisfied can press the red button from your cycle. Before you can avoid being humiliated, you have to love yourself for who you are and be satisfied. Develop a thick skin for bad comments about your body and you will be fine.
