HOW WE SPENT THE SECOND WEEK WITH THE CHILDREN IN THE FREE SUMMER LESSON
First week was awesome, it was just so interesting and during the weekend, both learners and tutors were so anxious to resume work for the following week. Itās Monday now, tutors and learners resumed with expression of excitement written over their beautiful faces, exchanged pleasantries, had the morning assembly and diverged into their classes.
Just like the previous week, subject tutors resumed classes in the Junior Secondary school, simultaneously, the class tutors resumed in the Primary category. Weekend Marathon home-works were marked, corrections were made and lectures began immediately.
We received so many visitors during the week, different people and organizations paid us courtesy visit to pledge their support in solidarity with us even as they assured us of their unwavering support. This stirred up our morale.
On Thursday, we received the leadership of the DAKIZ INITIATIVES who selected some of our learners and promised to sponsor them to learn a skill via his FREE SKILL ACQUISITION PROGRAM. The selected learners will resume to their various work places as apprentices to learn the following skills- Photography, Tailoring, Barbing, Hairdressing, Aluminum production, Solar panel and battery production and installation.
On Friday, following the introduction to Boar, we allowed the learners to play the board games: THE CHESS GAME, SCRABBLE, LUDO GAME, WHOT, JOKER , CHARADE among many others. The learners did excellently well in their respective category and we have the assurance that weāre raising international and world champions.
Beautiful things happen weekly. Guess what happened- a boy who hawks puff-puff around the street as a means of living came to the venue while the learners were playing games, he was apparently peeping through the window gazing at them. For security reasons, I walked up to him and asked what he was doing there. His response was touching and emotional as he said with a soft voice; master, I want to learn how to play the card games. Eiikā¤ļø, without further delay, I took him to the card games category and told him to feel comfortable with the other kids. Some minutes to the closing time, he came to me and confessed that he really enjoyed his time in the unit, promised to join us on Monday as a part time learner due to his motherās business. Weāll be glad to receive him on Monday.
On Wednesday, we reached our admission quota which was 300 learners but after several pleas and consideration, we agreed to increase the quota by 50 which we did. So far, so good, weāve admitted 330 learners in the first ten days of the program. No doubt, the quality services have been attracting the members of the audience and we wonāt stop adding more values to the development of our society.
To our Partnering Organizations; the Child Development Unit of the Pathfinders for Innovative Change, Seeds of Wisdom Foundation and Organization of Society Builders, we say THANK YOU.
Dear Volunteers, weāve accomplished 1/2 of our task, yet, we should not be overjoyed and carried away. Letās keep up the vibe and energy, letās keep our head so high because Together, Everyone Achieves More.
Regards.
