Hosea 11:1-7
ISRAEL’S REFUSAL TO RETURN TO ME
“My people are bent on turning away from me; so they are appointed to the yoke, and none shall remove it.” Hosea 11:7, RSV
There is an adage that says, “A dog that will be lost will not heed its owner’s warnings.” Our God is loving and kind, He does not want any of His children to get lost or perish. He consistently and relentlessly sends words of rebuke and warning to His erring children to repent and return to Him. But more often than not, when a man is comfortable and satisfied, he forgets and turns a deaf ear to God’s warnings and rebuke.
Today’s passage reveals that ungrateful Israel forgot God and kept sacrificing to the Baals. God called on them to return to Him, but they refused, thus, God declared that they would live in perpetual oppression and be under a yoke and no one would remove it. Friend, are you straying away from God? God is waiting for you to return to Him, delay is dangerous. To as many who come to Him, He will by no means cast away. Do not be like the ungrateful Israel, return to the Lord today and you will be happy you did.

Sin and the child of God are incompatible. They may occasionally meet; they cannot live together in harmony. - John R. W. Stott

Hosea 10:1-8
ISRAEL’S SIN SHALL BE DESTROYED
“The high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed….” Hosea 10:8, RSV
As a child, and even when I became a teenager I can remember my mother saying to me, “I will beat that stubbornness out of you today.” She actually succeeded by flogging and doing all sorts of things to destroy the altar of stubbornness that the Devil had erected in me. This was exactly what the Lord did to the Israelites. He had to deal with the sin of idol worship by demolishing their altars (verse 2b) and leaving the place to grow thorns and thistles until they became ashamed of it (verse 8b).
When the Israelites came out of Egypt, God gave them Ten Commandments, two of which forbade them of having and worshipping other gods but Israel did not obey God; they set up for themselves idols in all of their cities and worshipped them. They turned Bethel (House of God) to Beth-aven (house of idols) and God has to rid them of this sin. Today, there are many who go to church but are filled with idols inside. They shout hallelujah but are still filled with filthiness within. Today’s passage reveals what will happen to such people. Therefore, rid yourself of the idols in your house and heart so that you can escape the impending judgment coming upon sinners.
• Birthday Blessing: Before I formed thee… I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jeremiah 1:5
Read Bible Through Passage: 2 Chr. 6, 7; Acts 4:23-47
In the divine scheme of things, sin demands punishment. - Ben Mitchel

Psalm 65:1-5
YOU ARE THE HOPE OF ALL
O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of the far-off seas. Psalm 65:5, NKJV
A renowned atheist was reported to have said, “Amen” in response to the prayers rendered by a parent in his school’s PTA meeting. The journalist who published this story then posed a rhetorical question: “Did he then believe God does live?” The famous Augustine made a statement, which is paraphrased thus: “God has created a vacuum in the heart of all humankind that nothing else can fill except God and through that all thirsts are quenched.” This summarily gives the answer to the question raised by the journalist.
David, while praising God, outlined the following: (a) God pardons their sins; (vv. 1-4) (b) As the One who established the secure order of creation, He also ordered the affairs of the world so that international turbulence was put on hold and Israel was secured in her land (vv. 5-8) and (c) He turned the Promised Land into a veritable Garden of Eden (vv. 9-13). Hence, in all this, He is hailed as “the hope” of all humankind. Therefore, you are expected to put your hope ultimately in God; He is the hope of all humans.
• Birthday Blessing: “But upon mountain Zion there shall be deliverance…and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions-” Obadiah 1:17
