From Barely Surviving to Thriving:

My Story

I stepped into a classroom for the first time over 31 years ago.

I loved teaching—but for most of those early years, love didn't pay the bills.

I was doing everything right. Long hours, lesson notes, extra coaching. Yet at the end of every month, I looked at my salary and wondered: *Is this all my passion is worth?*

Then, 19 years ago, something shifted.

I discovered Early Childhood Care Education—not as a "lesser" level, but as a goldmine of opportunity. I made the transition to Montessori, and honestly? It felt like stepping from a canoe onto a ship.

Suddenly, I wasn't just a teacher. I became:

📌· An early intervention specialist helping toddlers with delays before they even entered primary school. Parents paid premium for that

📌· An inclusive classroom manager creating spaces where every child, regardless of ability, could thrive.

📌A Montessori trainer and material manufacturer.

Schools hired me to train their staff.
· A material maker – turning cardboard, bottles, and fabric into affordable learning aids. I sold them to other teachers, schools and daycares.

📌· A special needs care & therapy coach – supporting children with autism and Down syndrome, ADHD and other learning disabilities.

That alone opened three new income streams.

And that's just the start.

There's also: curriculum design for preschools, parent coaching, digital courses for educators, and consultancy for new childcare centers.

Within two years of fully embracing ECE, my monthly income tripled.

I wasn't working harder—I was working smarter, leveraging skills I already had but never knew were valuable.

As they stepped into my office the first thing I noticed was his roving eyes and restlessness, the look on his mothers face was severe stress and tiredness.

Ma this is the third school they're expelling him ,can you imagine that at his age?

Why are they expelling him from school at 10 years?

They said he's restless and destructive ma?

They said so or he's exhibiting the traits ?

While we were discussing this he stood up and grabbed one of the decorations on the shelf, his mother saw it but looked away, I pretended I didn't see him, after a while I saw him drop it inside his mum's bag placed on the floor!

I asked the mother if he pilfers and she said No!

Then I told him to bring out what he just took.

Conduct disorder is a serious anti-social behaviour that can destroy the life of a child and the immediate family, one of the major causes of conduct disorder is dysfunctional family settings and raising children in toxic environments. Dear teacher, always remember that you're the first learning aid in your classroom, what is your image teaching❓

At the initial stage of my mum's dementia crisis, I was totally clueless, and it took a toll on my health, business and finance, because I thought I could face it alone, I was also dealing with stigma and social issues of what people will say if they know.

But formal training and experience has wiped all that away, knowing about geriatric Care and end of life hospice care has really been a blessing.

Now mum has a day caregiver and another carer for the night, both of them earn in 6digits but I envy the night carer because her job is so simple and makes a lot of sense with the current state of our economy. She's a fulltime registered nurse in a standard private hospital, closes by two and resumes for her night care job at 8:00pm, closes by 7:00am in the morning Monday - Thursday.

For one to have two stable jobs in the Nigeria of today is an opportunity many are looking for but to have the initial training and skill is the first step.
