JAMB’S EXPECTATIONS FOR ANYONE SITTING FOR 2026 UTME
- *Age & citizenship* – You must be at least 16 years old by the time you would register and be admitted and you have to be a Nigerian citizen (or a recognised resident).
- *O‑Level credits* – A minimum of five credit passes, including *English Language* and *Mathematics*, obtained in no more than two sittings (WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB, etc.).
- *National Identification Number (NIN)* – Your NIN is mandatory; without it you can’t generate a profile code or complete registration.
- *Accurate personal data* – When you create your profile, make sure name, date of birth, gender, state of origin and LGA match the records at NIMC. Any mismatch will cause delays.
- *Valid email & phone* – Provide a unique email address and a mobile number that will receive the registration code and exam updates.
- *Four institution choices* – You must select four tertiary institutions (university, polytechnic, college of education, or IEI) in order of preference.
- *Registration at an approved CBT centre* – After generating your profile code, go to any accredited JAMB CBT centre, capture your passport photo and biometric fingerprint, and submit your details.
- *Print your registration slip* – Once registration is successful, print the slip; you’ll need it on exam day.
- *Conduct during the exam* – No calculators, phones, or other electronic devices are allowed. Follow all invigilator instructions, and bring only your printed registration slip. ⁶
Meeting these expectations keeps the process smooth and ensures you’re eligible to be considered for admission.
Good luck with your prep!

The Federal Ministry of Education has issued comprehensive guidance to address widespread enquiries from students, parents, school proprietors and administrators regarding subject selection under the revised Senior Secondary School Curriculum. The clarification follows numerous calls, letters and public concerns arising from misinterpretations circulating across various platforms.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa FAMedS, CON, and the Minister of State for Education, Professor Sa'id Suwaiba Ahmad, explained that there is no restriction or exclusion attached to the selection of any approved subject within the Senior Secondary School Curriculum. They emphasized that all subjects remain fully open for students to choose from, provided such choices are properly guided by the school authority, parents or a certified school counsellor.
They further noted that a science student may select subjects classified under the social sciences or arts, while students in the arts and social sciences may also choose subjects traditionally grouped under the sciences. According to them, the curriculum is designed to be flexible, student centred and supportive of diverse academic interests and career pathways.
The Ministers also clarified issues relating to the subject formerly known as Information and Communication Technology. They stated that the subject has now been renamed Digital Technology, stressing that the change is purely in nomenclature and does not alter the curriculum content. Students who previously offered Information and Communication Technology are therefore fully eligible to sit for Digital Technology during registration and examinations.
