NEW TOL HÖBA TO TAKE TRADITIONAL OATH AS REQUIRED BY HÖBA NORMS AND CULTURES

On the 1th February 2025, the 38th Tol Hoba, Tol Alheri Bulus Nyako will take traditional oath in accordance with the custom of Hoba on Hong Mountain (Krama Hong) before GARGA (shrine).

This follows the restoration of Hoba chieftaincy stool by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri after several decades of struggle.

Already, the community has set up various committees that would ensure seamless celebrations which will showcase all kinds of rich cultural heritage of Hoba land to the invited guests.

Every tribe has protocol based on their custom how new King will officially ascend to a throne and Hoba people are not exceptional, as such the brand new Tol Hoba (King) Barr. Alheri Bulus Nyako will follow these procedures for him to grasp the power of being Tol Hoba as custodian of Hoba culture and custom who oversees the affairs of the entire Hoba land.

Undergoing traditional coronation by any new Tol Hoba does not mean that a person is a pagan, but has to be in accordance with his religious beliefs, so as not to conflict his religious faith since we are all no longer pagans like our forefathers and not all traditional practices are sinful against God. All the processes will be done in Hoba language so as to be spiritually blessed by Hyel (God) on Tol Hoba who gives power and takes power.

The Kingmakers (Gundiri) will perform the traditional coronation on the new Tol Hoba (King) on Hong Mountain (Krama Hong) before GARGA. He will be crown and dressed in traditional attire that depict Tol Hoba and thereafter take an oath of office before people the Kingmakers and other dignitaries around.

Thereafter, the new Tol Hoba will address the assembly and depart the Krama Hong (Hong mountain) to Tsohon Gari in Hong town. The new Tol Hoba armed with all legal power conferred on him to rule Hoba land will climb a horse and take a ride to his palace.
