BREAKING: Governor Ododo Directs Kogi Schools to Resume February 23 After Security-Driven Mid-Term Break

The Kogi State Ministry of Education has announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state will resume academic activities on Monday, February 23, 2026, following an emergency mid-term break ordered by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The initial directive, issued on February 3, 2026, mandated an immediate compulsory break starting Wednesday, February 4, 2026, due to ongoing security concerns.

The announcement was communicated via an urgent notice from the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) in Kogi State.

The measure was described as a precautionary step to safeguard students, teachers, and staff amid credible intelligence on potential threats. School administrators were explicitly instructed not to announce any resumption dates, as the security situation remained fluid and unpredictable.

The latest update from the Kogi State Ministry of Education, Lokoja, states, “All Schools are to resume on Monday 23rd of February, 2026 after the emergency mid-term break.”
