Corpus Christi Procession in PAU Campus
Eleko Study Centre participates...
A large number of students took part in the Corpus Christi Procession in Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) this year. It took place on 27th November, Solemnity of Christ the King. Before the date, the altar server boys held a series of rehearsals. The same with the choir, whose preparation was boosted by a new drum set.
The procession began at about 10.40am, right after the 9.30 am Mass. In all, there were about 150 persons, in the procession. It proceeded in a dignified fashion with a cross bearer, two acolytes a bell ringer and a thurifer all dressed in black trousers, white shirts and matching black ties. Right behind them was the chaplain, Fr Ifeanyi, carrying the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance, with the other chaplan, Fr Leo, beside him. The members of the choir, who led the singing, followed behind and then the people. Even the clouds provided adequate cover, shielding the sun from the people and thus making the procession more pleasant for the people.
It is customary in these parts to have the people in front with the Blessed Sacrament forming the end of the procession. However, we decided to have the Blessed Sacrament in front of the people so that the people could see and adore the Blessed Sacrament while moving. At the back of the procession was a van with musical instruments that were difficult to carry.
The procession started from the university chapel to the hostel area and terminated in the foyer of the School of Science and Technology (SST) with a benediction. The distance covered was not so long but good enough for the faithful to pray. In all, the procession took about forty minutes. Many people commented afterwards that it was a marked improvement from last year’s procession. Clearly, the more students that participate in the sacred event, the more beautiful it is. The choristers did a good job with the songs that lifted the souls of the people. We hope that the procession next year would even be better.

Archbishop Adewale Martins in Eleko Study Centre
On the 3rd of November 2022, Eleko Study Centre played host to the metropolitan Archbishop of Lagos, His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins. He visited the centre, being the first male Centre of Opus Dei that he visited. He was in Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) Lagos, to celebrate Holy Mass for the staff and students of the University on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the institution.
He extolled the commitment and sacrifice of those who have steered the course of PAU in the last wo decades and positioned the University on the path of excellence. In his homily, the archbishop enjoined the students to take advantage of the integral formation that the university offers them as it is inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaria Escriva, to attain the ultimate goal which is everlasting happiness.
The archbishop arrived Eleko Study Centre at about 2:45pm, in company of his secretary, Fr Paul Ariole, the regional Vicar of Opus De in Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Tony Odoh, the former regional Vicar Msgr Ignatius Sotos, and some senior staff of the University who had accompanied him on a tour around the university.
The director of Eleko Centre, Celestine, who waited for the archbishop to arrive, welcomed him and took him on a guided tour of the Centre; first to the oratory, where the archbishop prayed for a while. After his brief prayer, he expressed his admiration for the beauty of the oratory as the director explained to him the different paintings within the oratory.
He was also happy to hear of the various activities the centre organizes for the students.
After the tour, the archbishop was presented with the gift of a cake baked by the administration that takes care of the centre. Outside the building, on his way out, he freely obliged those who wished to have photos and selfies with him. Afterwards, he imparted his blessing on all those present before he left.
