THE JOY WAS PALPABLE YESTERDAY.
It was an intense moment of joy as our students took their final exams for the awarding of The National Diploma certificate.
Through days and months of learning and through these past semesters filled with lectures, assignments, projects, presentations, sleepless nights, laughter, friendship, and cherished moments, they have faced challenges, learned hard lessons, and discovered strengths they never knew they had. By diligently attending to countless assignments and school projects, they have marked themselves worthy of certification.
And so to our ND 2 students -
We want to let you know that we are proud of your resilience, discipline, and determination. You have proven that you can stay the course, and we believe you will excel not just in these exams, but in every path you choose thereafter.
Congratulations 🎉.

INSIGHTS FROM THE ONGOING FOOTBALL COMPETITION.
The football loving and very competent Mr. Akinbiyi Olayinka Soy took the role of the referee in Matchday 1.
What does a Football Referee share in common with a Lecturer?
Well, same goal — different pitch.
🔹 A referee doesn’t play the game, but his decisions can change the outcome.
🔹 A lecturer doesn’t write the exam, but their teaching can shape your result.
🔹 A referee shows you yellow or red for breaking the rules.
🔹 A lecturer fails you in Examination for the same reason — indiscipline, lateness, or negligence.
🔹 In football, players blame the ref when they lose.
🔹 In school, students blame the lecturer when they fail.
But just like in football — preparation, discipline, and smart play often beat any bias.
FINAL POINT: Whether it’s a whistle or a whiteboard, the person in charge may influence the game but it’s your own effort that determines the final score.

FOOTBALL 101
A 10-minute or so football match is often referred to as a "Mini Football Match", "Short-sided Match", or in some cases, "Fast Football" or "Quick Play". These types of matches are commonly used in training sessions, youth development, friendly competitions, or amateur tournaments where time is limited, or where multiple teams are playing in rotation.
NAME VARIANTS/ TYPES.
1️⃣ Mini Football Match
2️⃣ Quick Match
3️⃣ 5-a-side / 7-a-side Match (often short in duration)
4️⃣ Street Football
5️⃣ One-touch Tournament Game
6️⃣ Timed Round Match
7️⃣ Small-Sided Game (SSG)
⚽ TYPICAL FORMAT
Duration: 10 minutes (can be one half or 5 min halves with a short break)
Players: 5 to 7 per side (sometimes even 3v3 or 4v4)
Pitch: Smaller than regulation (e.g., half-field, futsal court, or street space)
Goalposts: Small-sized goals or cones as targets
No Offside (usually)
Rolling Substitutions
Winner-Takes-All or Points-Based
INTRIGUING THINGS TO KNOW
1. Fast-Paced Action
With only 10 minutes, there's no room to relax — players push aggressively to score early. Every mistake is costly.
2. Emphasizes Skills Over Stamina
Dribbling, close control, quick passing, and decision-making under pressure are key.
3. No Time for Comebacks
Falling behind early can be fatal. There’s rarely enough time to recover from even a one-goal deficit.
4. Great for Tournaments
Used in street football tournaments or departmental/school competitions with many teams, where each match is short so all teams get to play.
5. High Entertainment Value
Shorter matches mean more intensity, less downtime, and often more goals or flashy moments.
6. Can Include Unique Rules
Some use time penalties instead of cards, restrict long shots, or even rotate goalkeepers every few minutes.
EXAMPLES IN REAL LIFE
✅ Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five: Global 5-a-side tournament with a twist — when you score, the other team loses a player.
✅ Street/Local Community Tournaments: Common in African cities, often 7-10 mins per game.
✅ Training Drills: Used by pro teams to simulate pressure in short bursts.
🏆 Popular Use Cases
✅ Inter-class or inter-department games (like Director’s Football Competition)
✅ Knockout rounds in small tournaments
✅ Halftime fun games
✅ Kids' games or youth academy challenges
PRACTICAL CLASSES BEGINS TOMORROW AT THE SCHOOL FIELD.
