ENTRANCE EXAMINATION HELD ON SATURDAY, 11TH OCTOBER

As part of our ongoing 2025/2026 admission process, Aries College of Health, Management and Technology successfully conducted the First Batch Entrance Examination on Saturday, 11th October.

This exercise was organized to assess and shortlist qualified candidates from the applications received so far. It also reaffirms our institution’s commitment to a transparent, seamless, and timely admission process for all prospective students.

NO MORE GUESS WORK ABOUT OUR LABORATORY EQUIPMENTS! 😊

This is a Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC). You may chose to call it a Biosafety Cabinet.

It is an enclosed, ventilated laboratory workspace designed to handle biological samples safely.

As you can see, the front has a glass shield where the operator works through an opening.

Inside, the air is filtered through HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters.

This instrument ensures three levels of protection:

1. It protects the laboratory worker (operator)

2. It protects the biological sample being worked on

3. It protects the environment from contamination

WONDER HOW IT WORKS?

It's an interplay of the airflow system, containment and safe work area.

1. Airflow System – The cabinet draws in room air, passes it through HEPA filters, and circulates sterile air into the workspace.

2. Containment – Any aerosols or harmful particles generated during experiments are trapped inside and filtered.

3. Safe Work Area – The sterile airflow ensures that samples are not contaminated by dust, spores, or microbes.

HOW WILL THIS BE USEFUL TO OUR STUDENTS?

1. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN STUDENTS.

▶️ This is very essential for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) & Science Students in handling clinical specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool, swabs).

▶️ It's needed in microbiological culturing of bacteria, fungi, and parasites.

▶️ It's very essential in studying pathogens without exposing students to infection risks.

2. PHARMACY TECHNICIAN STUDENTS

▶️ Primarily for safe preparation of sterile drug products (e.g., IV fluids).

▶️ For training in aseptic techniques.

3. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH STUDENTS

▶️ Examining contaminated water, food, or soil samples for pathogens.

▶️ Training in biosafety when handling hazardous organisms.

4. COMMUNITY HEALTH & PARAMEDICS TRAINING

▶️ Demonstrations on how infectious samples are processed safely.

▶️ Understanding biosafety protocols before working in hospitals.

5. RESEARCH & PUBLIC HEALTH

▶️ Used for disease surveillance training (TB, cholera, typhoid, Lassa fever, etc.).

▶️ Provides exposure to real-life laboratory biosafety skills.

The instruments in the picture are digital fabrication machines – specifically a CNC router/engraving machine and a 3D printer.

CNC Machine / Laser Engraver

Type: Desktop CNC (Computer Numerical Control) engraving/milling machine.

Function: Used for cutting, engraving, and milling designs onto materials like wood, plastic, acrylic, PCB boards, and sometimes soft metals (e.g., aluminum).

HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. A design is created in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Fusion 360).

2..The file is converted to G-code, which contains machine instructions.

3. The CNC machine then follows these codes to engrave, cut, or carve the design with high precision.

🏓 On the right side: 3D Printer (Ender Model)

Brand/Model: The label shows "Ender", which is a product line from Creality (a popular 3D printer manufacturer). This is most likely an Ender-3 series printer.

Type: FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D Printer.

Function: Builds 3D physical objects layer by layer from digital 3D models.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. A design is made using CAD software (e.g., Tinkercad, SolidWorks, Fusion 360).

2. The file is sliced into layers by slicing software (e.g., Cura, PrusaSlicer).

3. The printer heats a filament (plastic material like PLA, ABS, or PETG) and extrudes it layer by layer onto the print bed, forming a 3D object.

COURSES/DEPARTMENTS THAT COULD BENEFIT THE MOST FROM THESE INSTRUMENTS:

✅1. Medical Laboratory Technician

Need 3D printers to produce anatomical models, mock-up lab apparatus, and even prototype low-cost diagnostic tools.

CNC could help in making custom holders, racks, or device casings for laboratory equipment.

✅2. Pharmacy Technician

3D printing is now used worldwide for drug delivery research (e.g., printing tablets with controlled release).

In a teaching setting, models of drug molecules, pill molds, and packaging prototypes could be made.

✅ 3. X-ray Technician (Radiography Technician)

Very useful for making skeletal models and organ replicas for learning radiographic positioning.

3D printing can also create phantom models (objects mimicking body tissues for X-ray practice).

3D printers can produce CPR mannequins, airway management trainers, and emergency procedure simulators.

Great for hands-on practice where imported dummies are too expensive.

The accreditation team from IMSAN carried out a comprehensive evaluation of our academic programmes, facilities, teaching staff, and learning environment.

After detailed and thorough evaluation, IMSAN granted Aries College of Health, Management and Technology, Ibadan full accreditation status to run the Medical Store Management Programmes and other related health programmes.

✅ Master’s degree (minimum) in a health-related discipline
