It was a great time on Saturday, 28th March,2026 at our March Roundtable as we talked about the power of handwriting beyond penmanship.
We saw the connection between the hand and the brain, the purpose of handwriting in building intelligence and much discussion was had on how to support struggling learners.
Our Roundtable meetings are moments of depth and clarity.
We hope to have you next month!

Are We Silently Raising Bullies?
The disturbing video of students beating their peers in an abandoned classroom left many of us shocked. But beyond the shock, it calls for deep reflection.
Children are not born cruel. They learn from the environments around them.
As Maria Montessori reminds us:
"The child of today is the man of tomorrow."
The question we must ask ourselves is not just “What is wrong with those children?” but also:
• What are children seeing at home?
• What are they experiencing in school?
• What behaviour are adults modelling daily?
Respect for the child is not weakness. It is the foundation for raising emotionally healthy and empathetic human beings.
How we speak to children.
How we discipline them.
How we treat those who make mistakes around us.
Children are watching.
Are we raising children who dominate others…
or children who respect others?
Let us intentionally raise children who will make our homes, schools, and society safer and kinder.
The future we hope for begins with the children we nurture today.
Yours in service,
Folake James

Our March Roundtable is here!
Theme - More Than Penmanship: Handwriting as a Pathway to Intelligence
In many classrooms today, handwriting is often treated as a simple technical skill; something children must master for neatness and presentation.
Yet growing research and educational observation suggest that handwriting plays a far more significant role in learning. The act of writing by hand engages multiple areas of the brain, supporting memory, attention, language development, and cognitive processing.
Inspired by the insight of Maria Montessori that “the hand is the instrument of the mind,” we invite educators to join a reflective roundtable conversation on the deeper role of handwriting in the development of intelligence.
Together we will explore:
• The relationship between hand movement and brain development
• Why some educational approaches introduce cursive and Nelson writing early
• The impact of handwriting on literacy development
• The relevance of handwriting in an increasingly digital world
This session will be an opportunity for educators to share perspectives, reflect on classroom practice, and rethink the place of handwriting in modern education.

We are stepping into the month of February with a Practical Workshop for our Montessori Early Years Diploma students.
As is true to the Montessori philosophy, we are beginning with Practical Life Activities (PLA); the foundation of the Montessori environment.
Our focus includes:
• Elementary Movement & Preliminary Activities
• Care of Self
• Care of the Environment
• Grace and Courtesy lessons
Practical Life Activities are essential because they:

Do you desire to raise children who are confident, independent, socially aware, and capable?
Then Practical Life Activities are not optional; they are essential.
This week marks the beginning of a transformational journey for early years educators, and we are already experiencing how fulfilling and grounding this work can be.
If you are in Ibadan and its environs and you desire to equip yourself with the skills to become a refined, confident, and effective Early Years Educator, adopting 21st-century teaching skills and experiencing excellence in teaching without tears, we are just a call, DM, or email away.
