Ramadan – Day 3 Lesson: Guarding the Tongue and Heart
On the third day of Ramadan, a powerful lesson to reflect on is self-control beyond food and drink.
Fasting is not only about staying away from eating and drinking — it is also about guarding:
Your words from gossip, lying, or harshness
Your heart from jealousy, anger, and pride
Your actions from anything that displeases Allah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught that if someone does not give up false speech and bad behavior, Allah has no need for them to give up their food and drink. This reminds us that Ramadan is about transforming character, not just changing eating habits.
Practical focus for Day 3:
Pause before speaking.
Choose silence over harmful words.
Replace negative thoughts with du‘a and dhikr.
Practice patience when tested.
Reflection question:
If someone recorded my words today, would they reflect the spirit of Ramadan?
Ramadan trains us to become better versions of ourselves — not just for 30 days, but for life
