We need to have high goals for our children | Tarbiyyah outside the box

Children are natural learners.

Whether structured or unstructured, children would learn.

What we should do as parents is to create an enabling environment that would facilitate their learning and we should wait to see how they would come up with their own UNIQUE ideas and styles of learning.

The environment is a major determinant for children to learn. Every child is unique in their own way and we should not be quick to evaluate a child's progress without playing our own parental role of creating an "enabling environment".

For us to understand this is to wonder how a new born was able to quickly connect to his mother by suckling! It simply implies that learning is a natural process.

Do you create a learning environment for your child(ren)?

MY JAR OF DEEDS

I brought up this idea to make my child have a sense of accountability and to understand that we need to have more good deeds to earn jannah.

I would write his daily deeds and throw them inside and AlhamduliLlaah, this has help controlled some habits and increased the zeal to do more of good deeds with encouragement and prayer.

You can also do this to help your children or kids around you.

What do you do to make your children feel accountable to Allaah?

You're not Alone

Oftentimes, Home Educators have the feeling they aren't doing enough despite the efforts that we put into doing this and the good results we see in our children, we still ask questions like "am I getting it right?", am I doing enough?".

It's okay to have such feeling because we want to give it our all, we want to ensure everything is fine and that we are also making progress.

But have you ever asked if "where you were the yesterday is still where you are today?" If you and your children are making progress, AlhamduliLlaah, you're doing just fine.

Checks and balances are needed though just as we do to other aspects of our life.

Let's keep making efforts and praying to Allaah for Success.

May Allaah grant us success in both worlds. Aamiin

Before my exams, we got this arithmetic game from

We were able to do lots of maths activities with this game and Mr A. got really interested, it seems to him as though he was catching fun.

Learning through play is very key in our home work, and has really helped our growth. AlhamduliLlaah!

Will you like to get this game for your kids? got you covered.

BALL GAMES

Children oftentimes find it hard to concentrate on tasks given to them and so, instead of scolding them always, why don't you try other ways to help them. This concerns us as parents in general terms, whether conventional schooling or home schooling.

As much as a lot of parent do not like children to play "too much" (even though too much is relative), there are some play activities that would help build some skills in them. One of such skill is "keeping focus ".

Ball games are examples of play that help children stay focused. How does this work? While playing, their focus is usually to achieve their aim which is to CATCH THE BALL, or score a GOAL, and so, their brain would respond to this stimulus and so they keep focusing on their target.

If your child is having issues with concentration, try being creative with ball games like football, basketball, baseball etc.

You can throw ball at your child within a measured distance (depending on the age) and let him catch it while s/he also throws at you. Also, you can draw a circle on the floor and let him bounce the ball within it. This should also help with concentration.

This is only one out of the other play activities that can help children and that's why we would always encourage parents to let children play, PLAY IS LEARNING!

Don't forget, the most important part is BEING INVOLVED. Never leave your child to it alone.

We often get questions from mums with little kids in their early years between ages 2-5 about what they should teach their children in this age group.

In order to answer your questions, we have decided to bring an expert in this field to help us do justice to this in shaa Allaah.

Join us on Facebook live this Saturday, 29th of August by 3pm in shaa Allaah.

You can do it, in shaa Allaah⁣

A lot of us homeschooling in this part of the world need this right now (check the slides). ⁣

We are sometimes doubtful if we can do it. ⁣

We seek validation from people who do not have same goals as ours and we come back blaming ourselves for doing what we do after they've told us this idea doesn't make sense. But then, have you ever thought of those points mentioned in the slides? ⁣

You're your children's best teacher mama, seek help from your Lord through patience and prayer. ⁣
