His Excellency,
Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde,
The Executive Governor of Oyo State,
Secretariat,
Agodi, Ibadan

Dear Mr Governor,

Ibadan Circular Road: A Passionate Appeal

I have sent this message in my capacity as the National President, Ibadan Descendants Union, USA. IDU, USA, who is the umbrella body for all Ibadan sons and daughters in North America.

We have been receiving barrages of 'Save Our Soul' messages from our people who are affected by the construction of the iconic Circular Road at home. The inundations of the appeal messages have been so overwhelming that we have no choice but to lend our appealing voice to the raging issue.

Your Excellency, only an enemy of development and progress, would downplay the immense impacts the Circular Road will bring not only to Oyo State but also to Nigeria. We at IDU, USA, give huge credit to you for your unwavering resolve to see the Circular Road to successful completion.

We are aware of the Oyo Government’s stand on the requirements of the corridor at both ends of the road. We are equally aware of the outcry from those affected by the demolitions taking place to pave the way for setbacks and corridors for the expressway. However, our concern at IDU, USA, is not about who is right or who is wrong between the Oyo Government and the affected citizens of the state. What we hold to be necessary is that Oyo State must develop, and we must do everything to support the government to achieve the development.

Your Excellency, while we recognise that the government has to do what is necessary to develop the state, we are making a passionate plea on behalf of the affected citizens of Oyo State to show mercy and leniency towards bringing succour to them over the demolitions going on at the Circular Road. We are not making any suggestion or recommendation as to how to relieve the affected people of their pains occassioned by the demolitions. As a responsible government, we believe you know what to do to lessen the burden of the demolitions on those affected.

Your Excellency, you are known to have been running a government with milk of human kindness. We equally appreciate your firmness in ensuring that the right thing has to be done to move Oyo State forward. On behalf of the entire members of IDU, USA, I appeal to you to use your usual wisdom to bring relief to our people affected in that axis.

I thank you for your sterling service to our State while I look forward to having a highly favourable response to this plea.

Accept the assurances of my highest regards, Your Excellency.

Oloye Abiola Iyiola
National President
Ibadan Descendants’ Union, USA

*🔵|JAMB Policy Meeting: Key Points To Note*

Take time to go through this, before asking questions already answered in this post.

✓JAMB held the 2024 admission policy meeting on the 18th July, 2024.

✓Age Requirement for Admission this year is 16 years. However, it will be 18 years as from 2025.

✓JAMB set 140 as the minimum score for university admissions, and 100 for admission into Colleges of Nursing, Colleges of Education, and Polytechnics. This cutoff is the minimum score and each institution can choose their own cutoffs.

✓There will be no JAMB original result slip this year. JAMB stressed that it will be their sole responsibility to provide any school that requests the applicants' JAMB score. This is to prevent falsification of results by applicants. As to if there will be change of plans, or if JAMB will provide an alternative way for those with SIM card issues, this cannot be said at the moment. As such, everyone is expected to have their JAMB registered SIMs active as this is the only option of checking the results for now.

✓All institutions can now commence their admissions for this year. This does not mean they will start immediately. Each school decides when to release their Post UTME/screening form, depending on their academic calendar. If you don't want to miss out of your school's admission updates, then quickly follow the page >>> Consult Gana

✓Admission this year will also be accepted through SMS only. This again emphasizes the need for everyone to have their JAMB registered SIM cards active. Again, as to if there will be an alternative way for those who have SIM card issues, this cannot be said at this moment.

✓The Post UTME/screening form fee for all schools has been pegged at N2,000 ONLY. This means no Institution should charge above N2,000 for their Post UTME/screening form.

✓All Admissions - UTME, DE, regular, Part-time, others - must be conducted through JAMB alone. As such, watch out and don't fall victim of those who claim to offer
