Meet 30-year-old Freddie Figgers. He was found in a dumpster in Quincy, Florida, in the United States, where he was abandoned by his mother shortly after giving birth to him. At just 2 days old, he was adopted by Nathan and Betty Figgers, and the love they showed to him became the turning point in his upbringing and life.
When he turned 2, he was incredibly intelligent for his age that he started inventing and innovating. At age 9, he got his first computer but it wasn't working. Freddie worked on the computer himself and got it fixed. At age 12, he was already working as a computer technician.
Friddie at the young age of 15 started a cloud computing company. The idea came to him when an Alabama car dealership lost all their customer files after a tornado hit. To prevent this from happening again, Freddie helped them back up their information on a remote server… from his own backyard.
And when his dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he built a shoe with a GPS tracker and two-way communication. “I could pick up the phone and say, ‘Hey dad, where are you at?’ and he doesn’t have to do anything, just lean down and talk into his shoe and I can track his location,” Figgers told the media. “That program was very successful and I had a company reach out to me out of Kansas and they bought the program from me for $2.2 million.” This he claimed was his biggest invention ever, and it is understandable because it greatly helped his dad.
The following year, Freddie used the $2.2 million he was paid to start a company known as Figgers Communications. The telecommunications company is today valued at $62 million. This is absolutely incredible.
At the age of 24, Figgers had built and designed 80 custom software programs. Figgers Communications is said to be the only minority-owned company of its kind in the U.S. Freddie, the founder and CEO, has already made headlines with his company’s anti-texting and driving software. He also created a cell phone with a built-in wireless blood glucose meter for people with diabetes.
Besides having a brilliant mind and an incredible work ethic, he also has a heart of gold.
He's today an Entrepreneur, an inventor and a philanthropist. He said his success is not about the money but creating a better world. Isn't this amazing?
This is so inspiring!
