If You Have Been Out of School for More Than a Year, Here is Exactly What to Do Next
This post is for a very specific person. Someone who finished secondary school more than a year ago. Someone who has been trying to gain university admission β through JAMB, through Post UTME, through waiting lists and supplementary admissions β and has not yet succeeded.
Someone who is beginning to wonder if university is still possible for them.
I want to speak to that person directly today.
It is still possible. Completely, absolutely, entirely possible.
And more importantly β the path forward from where you are right now is clearer and shorter than you probably think.
Here is exactly what to do:
Step 1 β Stop Doing What Hasn't Been Working
This is the hardest step but the most necessary one. If you have written JAMB more than once without gaining admission, writing it again with the same preparation and the same approach will almost certainly produce the same result.
The definition of insanity β doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome β applies powerfully to the Nigerian JAMB cycle. At some point the most intelligent move is to try a genuinely different route.
Step 2 β Assess Your O'Level Results
Before anything else, know exactly where you stand with your O'Level qualifications:
π How many credits do you have across all your WAEC and NECO sittings?
π Do you have English Language and Mathematics?
π If you are missing any credits β which ones and how many?
If you have 5 credits including English and Mathematics you are already eligible for IJMB. If you are missing one or two β you can resit those specific subjects while simultaneously beginning your IJMB programme.
Step 3 β Register for IJMB Today
Not next week. Not after one more conversation. Today.
Here is what IJMB gives someone in your exact situation:
β
A structured, productive use of the next 9 to 10 months
β
A fully recognised A-Level qualification at the end
β
Direct 200 Level admission into over 100 Nigerian universities
β
No JAMB score required
β
Three examination sittings β January, March and May
β
Payment in 3 convenient instalments
Step 4 β Commit to the Programme Completely
You have already lost time. The way to recover that time is not to rush carelessly through IJMB β it is to give it everything you have so that you pass your entrance examination with strong grades and gain admission to your first choice university and course.
Attend every lecture.
Study consistently at home. Take the examination seriously. The students who do these things pass. The students who don't β don't.
Step 5 β Walk Into University at 200 Level
That is the destination. Not 100 Level alongside students younger than you. Not another year of waiting. 200 Level β as a direct entry student with an A-Level qualification β at the university and in the course you have been working toward.
That destination is available to you right now. The registration portal is open. The centres are ready. The lecturers are prepared.
The only thing missing is your decision.
Make it today.
Registration form fee: β¦10,500. Programme fees: β¦298,000 to β¦358,000 in 3 instalments. Lectures begin July. Centres in Lagos, Abuja, Ilorin, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Benin City, Warri, Akure, Asaba, Ado Ekiti, Awka, Nnewi and Sango Ota.
