Title: The Child You Raise Today Will Represent You Tomorrow
Recent events involving a student at **Igbenedion Education Centre in **Benin City have stirred strong reactions across the country. A video showing a student brutally bullying another child shocked many viewers and raised serious questions about the kind of children society is raising today.
Bullying is not a small issue or “children’s play.” It is a serious act that can leave deep physical and emotional wounds on a child. A child who is bullied may struggle with fear, anxiety, and loss of confidence for many years.
However, beyond the disturbing act itself, one question stands out: What kind of values are children learning at home?
Character formation begins very early in life. Between the ages of 0 and 5, children begin to learn empathy, kindness, discipline, and respect from their parents and caregivers. If a child grows up believing that power means dominating others, the consequences can be devastating.
Parents must intentionally raise children who understand:
Respect for others
Self-control
Empathy and compassion
Accountability for their actions
When a child displays violent or cruel behaviour, the solution is not to hide the problem or move the child from one school to another. The child needs guidance, correction, counselling, and rehabilitation.
At the same time, the child who was bullied deserves immediate medical attention, emotional support, and protection.
This incident should serve as a wake-up call to parents everywhere.
The greatest legacy parents leave behind is not wealth or status, but the character of the children they raise.
May our children grow to become sources of pride and not pain.

RAMADAN KAREEM TO OUR ESTEEMED MUSLIM PARENTS AND PUPILS
Dear Esteemed Parents and Beloved Pupils,
On behalf of the Management and Staff of our great school, I warmly extend our heartfelt greetings to all our Muslim families as you begin the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is a sacred season of devotion, reflection, self-discipline, sacrifice, and generosity. It is a time that teaches us patience, kindness, gratitude, and compassion for others values that align beautifully with the character we strive to build in our pupils every day.
To our dear pupils observing the fast, we are proud of your commitment and strength. May this season deepen your faith, increase your wisdom, and strengthen your character. Remember to balance your spiritual duties with adequate rest and focus on your studies.
To our Muslim parents, thank you for continually partnering with us in nurturing children who are morally upright, disciplined, and God-fearing. May Allah accept your prayers, fasting, and acts of charity, grant you peace in your homes, and shower your families with abundant blessings.
May this Ramadan bring renewed hope, divine favour, good health, and answered prayers to every member of our school community.
Ramadan Mubarak!

Extra lessons teach what to learn.
Family traditions teach how to learn.
And how a child learns will always outperform how much they are taught.

It is incredibly stressful when your little one refuses to eat. You’ve cooked a healthy meal, and it ends up on the floor or ignored. But before you panic, remember:
**Toddlers are biological skeptics!**
The "Why" Behind the "No"
1. **The Growth Slowdown:** After age 1, a child’s growth rate drops significantly. They simply don't need as much fuel as they did as infants.
2. **The Power Move:** At this age, children realize they can control two things: what goes *out* of their body (potty training) and what goes *in* (eating).
3. **Neophobia:** Fear of new foods is a survival instinct. To a toddler, that meal might look like a strange, unknown object!
✅ The Solution: "The Mealtime Reset"
**1. Stop the "Milk Buffet" 🥛**
If your child is sipping milk or juice all day, their tiny stomach is always "pre-filled." Stick to water between meals to let true hunger build up.
**2. The "Safe Food" Strategy **
Always serve at least one "safe" food you know they like (tea or fruit) alongside the "challenge" food . This lowers their anxiety.
**3. Exposure Without Pressure **
It takes **15+ tries** for a child to accept a new flavor. If they don't eat it today, don't sweat it.
Just try again in three days.
No bribing, no begging!
**4. Make it a "Learning Lab" **
In my classroom, we don't just "eat" food—we explore it. Ask your child:
* "Is this crunchy or squishy?"
* "Does this smell like a flower or a forest?"
Turning it into a game removes the pressure to swallow.
---
**🌟 The Golden Rule:** *
You decide WHAT and WHEN is served.
THEY decide IF and HOW MUCH they eat.*
Trust their internal hunger cues. If they are active, hitting their milestones, and playing hard, they are likely getting exactly what they need!

Before Enrolling Your Child in Any School
Parents are strongly advised to carefully read and understand the policies of any school they intend to enroll their child in.
It is important to note that not every school admits all applicants indiscriminately. Some institutions maintain strict moral and behavioural standards aimed at nurturing disciplined and upright students, irrespective of their family background.
Such schools uphold strong values and are intentional about character formation. They do not condone indiscipline or compromise on principles that shape learners into responsible citizens.
Therefore, parents should choose a school whose ethos, values, and disciplinary policies align with the moral and educational foundation they wish to build in their children.

When toddlers learn to do small tasks (like feeding themselves, dressing, or packing their toys), they begin to believe in their abilities. This sense of “I can do it!” boosts their confidence and self-worth.
