IDIOM OF THE DAY
A kick in the teeth
It means a severe disappointment, setback, or unexpected blow.
It is often used to describe a situation where someone's hopes or expectations are suddenly and brutally crushed. (Unless it is a real kick in the teeth during a fight).
You can use this in your speaking test. However, do not use idiomatic expressions randomly unless you know their meaning. Example
Losing the job offer I was counting on was a kick in the teeth, but I'm trying to stay positive.
I hope this helps.

I once asked my students this same question, and their responses were interesting.
Victoria said, “Speaking scares me the most! I’m always worried about making mistakes in front of the examiner.”
Kwame from Ghana added, “It’s Writing for me. I never know how to structure my essays properly!”
It made me realize how differently we experience the IELTS journey. Some students struggle with time management in Reading, while others find Listening overwhelming because of accents.
No matter your fear, remember this: you’re not alone, and every challenge can be tackled with the right guidance.
So, tell me, Which IELTS module scares you the most?

During an event yesterday, I was reminded of something powerful.
"Progress is more important than perfection."
Sometimes, we put so much pressure on ourselves to get everything right the first time, forgetting that growth happens in the process, not in the outcome.
Whether it’s learning a new skill, preparing for IELTS, or simply navigating life, the key is to keep moving forward, even if the steps feel small.
So, here is my advice.
Focus on showing up, doing your best, and trusting the journey. The results will come.
I hope this helps

Meet Sarah, one of the determined test-takers who just aced IELTS with a band 7.5
The journey wasn’t always easy, but through strategic preparation, she achieved their desired band score

During one of my classes, I noticed something common yet troubling... many test-takers struggled to understand what the IELTS questions were truly asking.
For example, in the Writing module, a student once wrote an amazing essay… but it didn’t directly address the task question. The result? A lower band score despite great English and well crafted idea.
This happens because IELTS questions can be tricky. Misinterpreting instructions or key phrases can cost you marks in Reading, Writing, and Listening.
Here are some simple solutions I teach my students
1. Read instructions twice and pay attention to details.
2. Underline keywords and double-check what the question is asking before answering.
3. Practice recognizing question types through consistent practice, practice is the secret weapon!
This approach has worked wonders for my students, and it can work for you too.
Do you struggle with understanding IELTS questions? Let’s fix that together in the upcoming FREE 4-day Beginner Class.

When Mary first approached me, she was overwhelmed by the IELTS Reading module.
“I don’t know how to finish in time,” she said. “The passages are too long, and the questions confuse me”
I smiled because her struggles reminded me of many students I’ve worked with. Her anxiety was all too familiar , as I have seen it in many test-takers.
But instead of letting her drown in self-doubt, I reassured her with a secret: IELTS Success lies in mastering a clear strategy.
With this in mind, I created “The Ultimate Guide to IELTS Reading", A Step-by-Step Guide. This guide breaks down the Reading module into simple, actionable steps that Mary used it to learn:
1. How to use the Skimming and scanning techniques to save time.
2. How to tackle tricky question types like True/False/Not Given and matching list of headings.
3. Practical secrets to managing the 60 minutes allotted time effectively.
Weeks later, Mary shared her success story. She didn’t just pass, she aced the Reading test with a band 8.0.
This could be your story too...
